I always enjoy learning about a car's manufacture, so thanks for the good read! I do very much like the Audi RS models, although I'm not too sure about the new RS7 (or is it RS 7? There's another Audi type stylisation nightmare. hehe

I wonder if s m will post some scans from an airborne RS2 from Performance Cars later?
Quite made my day reading this and looking at the RS2 piccies. Still has to be the best car I've ever owned. Hopefully she's still providing someone with the same driving pleasure I enjoyed.

Got some scanned images of the Performance Car article with those piccies in but not terribly good quality and can't find the original link.

Such a shame they feel the need to call the haldex cars quattro, such a fallacy. I'm sure with some engineering genius they could get a torsen 4wd system into the a3/tt !

It's a shame they don't support their older models very well. It's nigh on impossible to get many parts for the ur. Unlike BMW...
My biggest gripe with ownership. Can't enjoy it as I should, so we are going to be parting ways. weeping

Hi all!

quattro it's always lower case period

The RS2 was not built nor developed by quattro GmbH.
It was developed together by Audi and Porsche and even the VIN tag shows both brands Audi and Porsche.
The first car developed from quattro GmbH was the S6 plus.

This video has all the infos......

Quattro rally car in 1981 (or was it 1980?) resembled something from NASA.

It was 1980 when the original (Gp4) quattro appeared on the Algarve Rally as a course car driven by Hannu Mikkola. If it had been competing, he would have won the event by 30mins!! The car was FIA homologated for competition in Jan 1981 and first won the Janner Rally in Austria with a margin of 20 mins!

Next weekend, there is a full Gp4+ spec quattro getting it's maiden outing in the Scottish forests after a 4-year build. I doubt if it will take any time off the Scoobys & Evo's, but it will be a hell of a lot more interesting for the spectators.

Good, I hope it's used as intended. A few years ago, 6R4s were still competitive at national level, although I'd lost interest by then due to draconian control of spectators. And I won't pay to walk into the forest.

Some people hope that there is a 1987 Audi rally car lurking at the back of Roland Gumpert's lock-up.
