Fantastic shed, but I almost guarantee that you cannot run a £250 Alfa for a year without spending at least the purchase price again .
You'll struggle to run anything for a year without spending that much, come on Even a decent DIY service will cost you 80-odd quid in parts and you have to expect to do wear-and-tear stuff like tyres, brakes etc. on something of that age.elephantstone said:
Yep, but im waiting for some inheritance to come through and fancy something different whilst i wait, if thats ok?
No. It's not OK. It's unfair that others have so many interesting cars in their lives. Plus I was previously unaware of the orange leather. It's a good job they didn't do them in the Coupe. It looked as good as some Alfa leather interiors.
Shades of the Ferrari Pinin, or that's a just a four door Ferrari 365 GT4,400,412?

OOh pre face lift a well, which I always felt looked sexier due to the front air dam (which was removed).
One of the old bug bears won't affect the next owner either - as it has no aircon, there's no stepper motors to go wrong (common fault which also happened to mine). The aircon stepper motors were actually Bosch parts made in Germany .... With an estimated 8 hours work to both remove and replace the dash (for a 5-10 minute job swapping to cheap motors) I instead spent the winters driving with lots of clothing on as mine went with the aircon temperature set to low on bothy sides of the car.

So sad reading this SOTW. To think that Alfa had a genuine 5 series challenger for a while. I had the old performance car test when the 164 cloverleaf beat the E34 530i and another challenger..what has Alfa got left to challenge BMW with now?
Personally I wouldn't buy this example, but would like a 3 litre V6!

250 squids, damn straight.
someone go buy it and drive it straight to your local spannerman and then drive it for a week, then send it back to him........and repeat.
i speak from recently aquired Alpha experience.
still, 250 why not. last owner 14 years, carphone.....i'm talking myself into this bad boy now.

I've had both the twin spark and V6 version of the 164 in my time. Overall, I think I actually preferred the twin spark. It has a characterful engine, with lovely engine note. It handles in a more balanced way. Importantly, it is also much more reliable than the V6 and has chain cam.
Obviously, the V6 is a wonderful engine, and I've had it in a GTV as well. But do not underestimate the twin spark.
