Has to be the Lexus IS-F or a newer Focus RS mk2. The Lexus are great out the box and the focus has a lot of tuning capability having experienced both cars.

Forgot to mention that Lexus dealerships are amongst the best I've ever experienced too!

If you can stretch slightly above 30k, it's got to be a 1M???

Ford Mustang V8

Budget is 26K to circa 30k - Should be within budget brand new
New preferred but will look at anything up to 18 months old - As above
Good handling and decent performance a prerequisite Not known to be the best car on the twisty bits but I don't care, would leave most cars standing on straights
Petrol Check
rear drive Check
Daily driver and I use for business so something reasonably subtle needed hmm......
BMW M135i is already on the list Know which I'd have, sorry BMW
I am looking for other suggestions outside the usual suspects (eg not German) as I would prefer something a bit different. It is certainly that lol

Downside is would be left hand drive but having driven a RHD car across Europe it wasn't much of an issue for me.

My current RS Megane 265 was nicked by one or more fcensoredg tcensoreds on Monday night and as its not shown up yet chances are its gone for good. weeping
I am having to blag a lift to work and back each day from my 21 year old son which is truly frightening yikes so I need to get mobile again as soon as possible after the insurance is sorted out.

My immediate inclination is to go for another RS Megane. However it is an opportunity to test drive a few alternatives so I was looking for helpful suggestions.

Budget is 26K to circa 30k yes
New preferred but will look at anything up to 18 months old yes
Good handling and decent performance a prerequisite yes
Petrol yes
Front or rear drive yes
Daily driver and I use for business so something reasonably subtle needed
BMW M135i is already on the listyes (subjective)
I am looking for other suggestions outside the usual suspects (eg not German) as I would prefer something a bit different. yes (though still german!)
the only thing is the subjective appearance, i think in the colour it came in it blends in just enough though the stickers can always be removed. mine is parked at work every day & i only hear positive things from customers about it & the great thing is people don't see it as a flash car-just a nice looking mini.

only two seats however....

I thought these would be way out of budget, but looking in the classifieds, there's this one

Ok, it's just over budget, but has performance seats, which are a lovely addition, fitted with a Miltek exhaust too, only 20k on the clock, service pack for the next 3 years, and will hold it's value pretty well I would think?

I know that car & it's a very good example-extremely quick!

If you could be a bit more flexible on the age, Jaguar XFR would seem to tick the boxes...

Maybe slightly over the 18mnth restriction but a v8 M3 is the only logical choice in this bracket for me.....

Or go mad and get a 55/56 plate Aston Vantage or 996 Turbo.....

Some great suggestions and what I like about the ph community is they can help you think out of the box clap

Progress so far is a test drive in a GT86, looked at and booked a test drive in a 370z for next week and thanks to robM77 I took a test drive in a Lotus Elise yesterday.
woohoo

Budgets are budgets but the OH generously conceded that as the Elise put a serious smile on my face busting the budget with a more boring daily driver PLUS a 2nd hand Elise for the weekend is an option. biggrin

I hoped paying for that new kitchen would pay dividends wink

Now for another day looking at cars.....

If looking at gt86's pop into readers cars, nice black one in there which shows what can be done.
I still think that a 370z may be best, get one a year or so old with full spec, let someone else take the first hit of depreciation.

I know you said nearly new but I would find it hard with that sort of money to rule out a E92 M3, a M3 cal, B7 RS4 or a 996 Turbo.

Enjoy all the test drives smile
