Shares the same engine as the Citroen DS3, and going by the look of it they share a styling department too.
Surely this is just a DS3 draped in Mini-isms
Firstly, the engine featured in a Mini long before it was in the DS3, secondly, as someone else has said - this is an all new engine.

This. Different world, customer, criteria, market... everything now.

New MINI is designed to fit perfectly into 2014, not 1962. This thread is exactly what Top Gear were talking about in their 911 feature.
Exactly, it gets so boring sleep

WHY WOULD YOU BUY A MINI ON FINANCE YOU COULD HAVE A E46 M3 CSL FOR THAT
MONEY!!

Or a m3 and a e39 M5!!!

Or a 911!
So I can pass it on to the poor people once its dropped in value enough for them, think of it as me doing my little bit to help along those not as fortunate as myself thumbup
clap Well said, the best thing is people were saying the same about the M3/911's when they were new i.e. could have bought a used 355 etc - so much fail rolleyes

The finance argument on here is pathetic, the people who ridicule car finance (through their adenoids) always have st cars/garages too!!

I'm sorry but that's rubbish. Just because you don't have a new car thats been bought on finance in no way means you have a rubbish car (don't go looking at my garage because that's what you'll do) there are plenty of people out there and i know a few who save up and work hard to buy a car outright and due to their personal circumstances it doesn't matter if you drive a Fiat Cinquecento or a Maserati gran turismo if you like cars it doesn't make you any more or less a petrol head. Sure if i was over 40 lived in rural Scotland and earned 120k a year and had no kids i'd probably have a Delta integrale as my daily but i don't so i cant afford one.

If you think you need to have a less than 5 year old car financed or not, to have a decent car thats rather naive. If anything the ones who Havn't bought a car on finance have the better motors. And i've been down both routes i've had cars bought out right and i've had cars bought with loans and hire purchase and funnily enough the cars i've bought outright i've always preferred.

I agree, the funding of either is irrelevant wink

I have bought/leased/hired cars and have no preference. It's just MOST people here climb up on to some sort of high horse and ridicule people who finance cars. For example you would be mental to buy certain Mercedes' right now considering the lease deals available...

People assume others cannot afford £500+ a month to lease a car when in truth, £500/month to some is peanuts! I bought a CLS for cash and it ended up costing me £770/month in unpredictable and unexpected depreciation over 18 months, that was on top of maintenance, road fund licence, cost to sell etc.

yes Especially if you know someone who has access to the MB-VIP scheme. A friend had a brand new SLK250CDI Sport, 12 months is costing him something crazy like £1,600 all in.

I've heard the same thing from different people, so presume it to be the case. Motoring File reported it recently too in their FAQ article.

Agreed, but I think the word you are looking for is "shallow". Anything that thinks that a car is crap because it's old shouldn't have a PH account.

Just to make this clear, I never once stated that old cars are crap, I simply stated that people who ridicule car finance usually have crap cars/garages (age is irrelevant), they usually have a great deal of green eyed monster too, but that's another issue eek

I guess I should have worded it as "most people who ridicule car finance have crap cars/garages..." too. I have never experienced someone claiming finance is the route of all evil having anything even remotely exotic in their garage. When the "Pay Cash" brigade turn up, check out their online garage (if they have one) - its a whole world of broken BMW's, knackered Lexus' and rotten MX5's hehe

That last bit is a joke BTW, I am an avid fan of Shed motoring.wink

Ha. Very good.
I don't have a problem with the MINI, from base model to JCW. But this really is a bit blobby. Almost like an Asian firm trying to copy the MINI without infringing too much on the copyright.
Lol just googled Chinese Mini and it came up with this. Wa wa wee waa

Some just dont find the idea of a used car thats had some one elses bodily fluids in it very appealing. Be it cigarette smoke, followed through farts, puke, p1ss, Knackers or p1ss flap sweat, bogies wiped on the steering wheel/carpets ect, ALL used cars without exception will be contaminated in some form or another, there really is no substitute for a brand new car. Yes you can have that much faster old money pit M5 but just think of all the aforementioned crotch fluids soaked into that drivers seat over the years...
I must go and wash my hands again... 50th tome today btw..

but seriously, I have had new cars and used cars and I have NEVER wondered about this. Like I've never wondered during my breathing who else breathed in that same air previously, or who else sat on the toilet seat at work.

Used cars, like my wifes 'new' Suzuki Swift Sport, are bought to answer and fit with a particular set of circumstances at the time. I felt no different sitting in our Amarok than the Swift on first driving it (other than the fact the Swift is a much nicer place to be and a much nicer car to drive.

Thing is the Mini was the model of the old car. MINI is the manufacturer of the new, they can make whatever models in whatever sizes they like and it will still be a MINI. Techinally they could build truck which would be built by MINI.

The whole Mini vs MINI thing is tedious.

They still make the old Mini, it's called a Peugeot 107/Citroen C1/Toyota Aygo. I was in the back of a 107 yesterday and it does a better job than the old Mini so if we can all just get over it and move on about 50 years. Thanks.

I have a modern Mustang and don't bemoan the lack of it not being an exact replica of the 1964 car.

I feel the point I was making to piss take most other new car threads may have been slightly missed here

It's a MINI, it looks like a MINI, this one has a slightly nicer interior other than that if it isn't broke don't try to fix it.

Don't give them ideas. The MINI truck is probably already in the CAD system, waiting for the right moment to leak the 1st press photos.
