Last Saturday I drove from the French Alps to Bath. I've done this trip in the Caterham and it's a right pain (~750 miles in one day). This time due to family requirements I did it in the Volvo and it was so easy, so I certainly loved the Volvo then.

Overall though I don't tend to get over-emotional about cars. The Caterham we have no plans to sell ever but it barely gets driven nowadays as other things take priority at weekends and evenings; I'm hoping to change that in the next couple of years and get back to driving it a lot as it's great fun most of the time. The Volvo is a workhorse that we'll keep until it becomes uneconomical to keep it going (hoping for 15+ years life from it).

I think I have love/ relationship with the Micra. It's a pretty crap car (in most respects), but I've spent a lot of time driving it over the years and come accustomed to its... Faults wink

Have to admit I do hate it a bit more than normal though because it broke down again yesterday tongue out

Respect my E92 M3 more than I love it I think it's a lovely motor & genuinely exciting when it wants to be but misses some sparkle for me...I loved my old Cerb & 200sx though that's for sure.

The only feeling I have towards my car is complete indifference. It does what it say on the tin, but is as exciting to drive as operating a washing machine frown

135i Coupé.

Best all-round package I've owned, out of dozens over the years.

The Saab is a bus (a rapid one, but still a bus).

The Elise is borderline perfection.

I don't think I've ever loved any car I've ever driven let alone owned and I've driven hundreds. Some I've owned have been very good but I find it hard to love an object.

It's only a car after all.

BMW 130i.

It's a bit heavy but 0-60 in 6s and 27mpg is perfectly fine for me!

I have loved every car I have owned except a 996 911 which I liked a lot (but did not love).

I know insurance has become trickier but I managed to get insured for an E30 convertible 318 (cheaper to insure than the 325s and cheaper to buy).

I thoroughly recommend E30 bmws - lovely things to drive and within your budget and also I think should be insurable...

What sort of thing could I be looking at within a budget of 5k that won't be a killer on insurance? Looked at mk2 Golf GTI 8v but insurance was over 3k:O

I think it'll have to be a reasonably old car because there's no new cars in that price range that I think could be my pride and joy, apart from a renault Twingo renaultsport which would around 5k, who's driven one? From what i've heard they are awesome...

Yes, both of them; mildly modded 182 for a daily and stupidly modded classic impreza wagon I've had for over ten years...totally different to drive but both grin inducing and both built by me smile

If you're interested in a Twingo RS, check out this place: http://www.twingo133.net/

A good bunch of friendly guys.

I drive a Renault Wind that is modded. It's my first car and I love it. Has the RS chassis so it's quite fun in the corners.

Urban Sports said:
Brother In Law has a renaultsport twingo cup, it's a bit meh for me, the driving position is awkward, you feel like you sit on it not in it, it's not really quick just merely nippy and it feels like it's built from Jacobs crackers.

Corners well though.
Handeling > Power

I've seen this RS fly by cars on the Nurburgring that have twice the engine size.

Forgotten what mine's like to drive as it's looked like this for the last 10 months, and have no idea when the work on it to finish it will be restarted.

Seriously unhappy.

My first car was a X reg 1.6l Fiesta Zetec S, amazing little car, so quick and nimble to drive, made it incredibly fun to drive and surprisingly fuel efficient. Needless to say I loved that car.

After that I traded it out as it was getting a bit old and got a 10 plate 1.4l Petrol Pug 207, that was a hateful car, slow, rubbish on fuel and generally awful to drive. Wouldn't recommend it to someone I didn't like.

However last week I traded it out against an 06 Golf GT TDI and I'm loving every second of driving that, makes my 30 minutes journey to and from work much more fun than it was with the Peugeot.

Seriously regret selling my ZT 260 some time ago as it really was a future classic in the making but I've also owned 4 Imprezas including my latest Blobeye PPP wagon which I absolutely love due to it being the perfect all rounder.

The beauty is i don't need a car for everyday use so i look forward to driving mine at the weekends.

A VXR8 will be on the cards however in about 18 months time and I'm counting down the days....
