Article said: "For the start of 2011, Aston introduced the V8 Vantage S, which continues to this day, that comes with 436hp and 347lb ft of torque where the original 4.3 offers 302lb ft. The S sees off 0-62mph in 4.0 seconds flat, compared to the normal 4.7's 4.7 seconds and 4.9 seconds for the 383hp 4.3"

Aston only claim 4.6 for the S?

Glorious car the V8 Vantage but the article appears to have been written through rose tinted specs. Seems to suggest they are bullet proof and bar routine servicing nothing goes wrong.

A couple of good friends of mine might object to that view. biggrin

Not suggesting they are fragile but seemingly every time they put their V8s in for a routine service they get the phone call we all dread and the car ends up spending a week or more at the dealership and a £2000+ bill on top of the service. They are forever having lots of little things fixed during the service. None of it expensive on it's own but the shear number of "niggles" all adds up.

Both utterly adore their V8 and wouldn't swap them for the world though! smile

Not the experience of most owners on here. But dealers do like to find 'faults'. Always best to question them.

Was the facelift for the regular V8 models in 2012 for these ?
Was there much externally changed ? I understand they got the "Vantage S" body kit ?
Is the Vantage S like Aston Martin's V8V equivalent to the M3 CSL (ie little bit more power and a little bit lighter) :-) ?

Face lift none CF version of V12V & S bumpers was MY2012, they get the N400 sill rather than the V12/S version, other than that no other external changes
Yes the S is more focused but not CSL focused wink
SP10 is a not so limited version of the S with a manual box and some options as std
I have an S roadster and across country it is a superbly fast car (just make sure it does have the sport pack suspension)

What years were they?
Some have fully floating Brembos or CCMs
V8Vantage was 2012, DB9 2013 demostrator, DB9 Convertible was 2009. Really off-putting brake feel, or lack of it actually. It was a case of press hard and hope it stops!

All on the bogo steel set ups
Vantage S, MY13 & V12's are miles better as is DB9.2 if it has the CCM's

Doesn't say much for sales teams if they don't discuss options huh!

Dirt cheap but looks like it would need a fair bit of work and not sure if that paint job is from the factory

Run away!!! If the wrap's looking tatty then it's likely a poor wrap, which may mean it's a can of worms when removed! Ask yourself this - if you had a car with a dodgy wrap that meant you had to sell it for less, and underneath was good paint, what would you do...?

The garage I bought mine from had another in at the moment, identical spec and miles, but £6k dearer... I like finding out things like that!
Also, the add says it was garaged for 2 years and has no MOT. Not a good thing you can do to a car (trust me, I've been there).

Expect to pay for a big service and maybe a surprise or two!

Brings me to the point of running costs. What are service and running costs of such a car?

Expect lots of predictable "if you have to ask about running costs, you can't afford the car" replies to this question.

I assume the costs are on a par with running a similar age 911. There are independent AM specialists who do servicing at prices similar to Porsche indies.

In a word, large, especially if you stick with AM for servicing/maintenance.

But it's a bloody lovely car.

"AMV8 was underwhelming and under powered. It was like a gorgeous woman who turned out to only read Heat magazine and thought sex was something that happened to her rather than her participating in an active role. It was pretty, but ultimately unsatisfying." - I wrote that in early 2006 after driving one from coast to coast across the UK and I like Aston's a lot. sorry.

Something I wrote about the AMV8:

Is it as good to drive as a 911? No
Do I care because it sounds like Thor and looks like sex? No

And, thankfully, the V12 has lost its roof which is a desirable car on any dimension.

Im not sure what youd be "coping" with with the early interior??

Personally i much prefer the early seats as they are made of single peices of leather rather than have a big line of stitching down the middle which to me looks cheaper.
I actually think the opposite to you and much prefer the newer seats. IMO the early ones look blocky and cheaper.

I like the stitches down the seat and (I'm not comparing here) my 330ci had similar which I loved.
