Given the way the XKR-S is plummeting in price, these will probably be worth picking up in a few years time!
Bloody hell! You can pick up a 1 year old XKR-S from Jaguar with 5k miles on the clock for £60k - that's nearly £40k off new!Approx £8 per mile in depreciation alone!
Here's a lap in the XJ220.
Blimey that's quite a soundtrack...

Where? I can't see that on the used Jag site. Maybe you're looking at the old 4.2 model from a few years ago. Approx £8 per mile in depreciation alone!
Ved, is it jus me but over the years I've watched that footage I've never quite figured out how the drivers window keeps going from slightly up to all the way down and back again so many times; I never see Nielsen take his hand from the wheel and open or close it!
As an aside, I'd rather have bought the XJ220 prototype that just went through H&H Auctions than this monstrosity...

If I wanted a 'track focussed' modified road car for around £130k then I wouldn't be handing Jaguar the money...

Hmm, I think that link to the C63 Black Series is what you'd call a self-defeating argument!http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

Well it's at £61,994 pre-haggle; so assuming the usual circa 5% main dealer negotiation it'll be under £60k...

That's about 8 grand less than any other car, so I'd assume there's a reason. Most seem to be in the region of £70k.http://used.jaguar.co.uk/details/2063160
Considering all of the GTs are sold already, I suspect prices will remain high. And comparing old with new......do we really have to go through that again?! And indeed, does it really matter if they've already gone to homes?

Just how many more iterations of the XK can there be? Surely they're starting to run out of letters to put on this thing.
They're going to run out of combinations of different stick-ons to use as well. They'll have to go back to the beginning but that's probably a good thing because the first ones looked quite nice.

As an XKR-S owner I'm not convinced by this as an ownership propsect at all. The R-S is already significantly stiffer and harder riding than an XKR (which rides superbly) and has faster steering that can actually make the car feel surprisingly jittery for something so big. However when not in its hardest setting it is still essentially a fine riding, very quick GT car. The advantages it has (at least for me) over the XKR are significantly more track focused handling when you want it, a noticeable power increase and the louder, absurdly addictive popping and banging exhaust note that is the same as the GT. Plus some rarity/novelty value if that's your thing but overall whilst I really like it in comparison to similar cars such as the DB9 or Granturismo, I'm not completely convinced by it. It is certainly not an out and out track car and the GT has the same engine, same interior and almost the same weight. With even stiffer suspension, the road ride will be ruined but you still don't get a proper track car. That said, whilst I don't think I'd buy one, I can only wholeheartedly support Jaguar sticking a big wing on it and making a monster. Why on earth not.
