Hey everyone,

Did an oil change the other day and managed to make a bit of a mess. I have tried swarfega but it dosnt seem to shift.

It's a tarmac drive if that makes a difference

I did this years ago in a Married Quarter. I tried Washing Up Liquid and it seemed to move some, also fullers earth based cat litter to absorb the horrible gunk that results from the washing up liquid.

Pretty soon after we had to move and I just left my car on the drive for the march-out.

Not tried it myself but heard budget cola sometimes helps.

I used to have a tarmac drive and the spilt oil "melted" the tarmac. Ruined it. You can buy patch tarmac from the DIY stores but the problem is getting a colour match.

I did the same on my mum's brand new brick paved driveway. Found a product made by Bayer for cleaning brick/patio in my local handyman store.

I think this is the new version

I tend to deal with it by scrubbing with a detergent and rinsing.
After a couple of goes, you'll start to see less of the lifting oil sheen on the water.

Once dry, you'll often need to rub some dust or dry dirt into it.
You'll have usually made a patch of super clean tarmac and the bit where the oil was will still be fairly black like new tar.
Rub in some dirt and dust, and the sun and UV light usually takes car of the rest over time.

Virosol. Use undiluted on stain. Leave for a few hours. Pressure wash off thoroughly. Job's a good 'un.

Gunk
