Had a look on the search but not a lot appeared.

The wife needs a new car as the current fiesta is on its last legs.

5 door
cheap to run (both fuel 35-40mpg and maintenance)
not too worried about mileage
sensible insurance

She drives around country lanes all day for work, she has no mechanical sympathy and therefore needs a sturdy reliable car.
I am fed up of spending money on the fiesta spent £700 last month!
Thanks for any tips

Honda Jazz/Toyota Yaris 1.0

Reliable, cheap and bulletproof motoring (if a little un-inspiring)

I'm currently in the same boat, considering getting the missus a Citroen C2, there are a few around for this money. Failing that I quite like the Pug 1007, not many around and quite fky in person

yaris (jazz my do too???) has timing chain so no worries there. Clutch is going to be an unknown.

Clutch and cambelt are cheap enough on these cars, but if your Mrs truly has no mechanical sympathy then get her an auto. 10 minutes and she'll like it better than a fussy manual, plus you have no clutch to fret about her nuking.
