I can only count 4 doors on the Mazda. Or maybe 1 1/2 each side.
As you are saying 5 door, does it have to be an estate as there aren't many rwd hatches (1 Series, probably out of budget).
Jeep Cherokee (XJ) would actually fit your requirements. Not sure if that's the type of vehicle you are after though.
Merc??

Go classic??

Not much else apart from BMW + Mazda though...

Or screw the doors and go for something more fun:

sorry 4 doors no estate for me :P
You may want to update your op, as I suspect many will miss this otherwise. As for your requirements, do you want something speedy or performance? Big, small, cruisy, old, not old???
BMW, Jag, Merc are the mainstay UK/Euro cars that are RWD. Lexus are about the only Jap one easily available here.
Many American cars and lots of classics will be RWD. There might be a few fringe exceptions, but these will be your main choices for this price and type of vehicle.
Personally a tidy manual Jaguar XJ40 would be pretty cool, although like hens teeth to find. The much newer S-Type should be a lot easier to find and in 3.0 V6 manual guise is quite a nice car to drive and sit in.

I need a car that will carry a new addition to the family (expected Feb) but will be sporty for the other 90% of the time
that only i am in the Car.
Reliable
MPG is not an issue
Insurance is not an issue
RWD
LSD (if pos)
I know this looks to be a tall order
Presume the new addition is a baby and not a dog or a lodger? that only i am in the Car.

In which case, is the ability to fit a baby seat and carry a pram going to be a concern?
Not so many cars with LSD's in the price range.
That said if mpg and insurance aren't an issue, keep an eye out for a 6.0 V12 Jaguar XJ12 (the XJ40 shape). Simply one of the best cars I've ever driven and it has an LSD.
