I think the issues with pitching an STI at either £40k to the now late 30's / early 40's former enthusiasts, is that Fisher Price interior. They'll have to spend some of the budget on better plastics...
For a few hundred quid you can pay a man to coat anything in hand stiched leather.Dynamic Turtle said:

As an x-scooby fan, I agree... 40K is just too dear and gets too close to more premium marques. How many BRZ's have they sold in the UK - 200'ish? I know they have a few supply issues, but I also think the fan club has moved on. The question is - will they come back? Not for 40K and Tupperware interior...Dynamic Turtle said:

I have some issues with the BRZ, but the interior quality isn't one of them. The materials are perfectly good enough for a performance car. God forbid we start getting Audi-like bloat and pointless toys. Upping the quality would increase the price.I'd like to say that any STi should have that characteristic burble that i love (although not with the huge drainpipe exhausts fitted to most FI boxers i come across). But another part of me says that would be just wrong on this car, just somehow doesn't fit. So i'd probably concede with the Supercharger.
Its not the same engine that's in other Subaru's. Subaru's tend to be long stroke , turbo'd units, the unit in the BRZ/GT86 is a bigger bore, shorter stroke ,high revving unit, that was Toyota's doing. Toyota threw away quite a lot of the Subaru motor when they started developing the car as it didn't suit the requirements. The bottom end is Subaru, most of the rest is Toyota. My thoughts are supercharging for a high revving unit, not sure a turbo would suit it. To be fair to the car, it doesn't NEED more power, but hey, when is any amount of power enough?.

Whatever the decision on induction method, I really hope they stick to equal length headers.
May i ask why? The classic boxer burble is whats missing from the BRZ!Re the interior, we are talking about a car that retails for £13k in the states so it will look naff @ 38-40k if it remains unadorned. And while the focus of the car will undoubtedly be the performance (an SC would be great but wouldn't that murder the fuel economy?) VAG has raised the bar since 1996.
Re 275bhp+ going to the rear wheels rather than all four, I would imagine that the chassis & electronics can more than handle that sort of increase without turning the car nice blue coffin. I guess the question is whether the standard prius tyres could cope?

Er.... this is already old news. It's just a cosmetic, brake and suspension kit under the Tuned By STI banner. It's not a new model and there won't be a turbo version. Here's a quote from the head of STI:
""STI is working on finalizing creation of the special version of BRZ, which would be unveiled in "some time" (secret). Turbocharger is NOT in the concept of this greatly balanced FR sports car, so we would concentrate our developments on suspension, handling, performance improvements and sports styling. The turbocharged version of BRZ will remain only in GT300 Championship."
-Hiroyuki Karamatsu, President of Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI)
The final car has already been shown:

He does say "performance improvements" which might mean a slight power hike, I suppose.
