RE: Porsche reveals 911 '5M Porsche Fans'
Discussion
The car looks fantastic (although not quite convinced on the wheels).
The "Porsche 911 5 Millions Fans" is clearly a fail... and it doesn't seem conducive of a marque like Porsche to do a special edition based on what's happening on Facebook. All in all, I think the car looks great, but the concept is really disappointing.
I look forward to the Ferrari #prancinghorse

Porsche are a bit late to the idea. Aston did this a year ago:

Much like this car, it proved that those who vote on Facebook polls have little to no taste/imagination!

Impressive looker, especially as with no air of illiberality the people that most frequently seem to comment on manufacturer and journalistic FB pages seem to prefer the 'Abu Dhabi' style of modification. I would have expected it to have made Mansory wince.
As a special edition the name would be shocking, but seeing as its going to be flying round Silverstone for a couple of years I can see why they've left it as is.

So, putting together this information about Porsche's 5 million fans, and the Dispatches tonight on Fake Facebook likes I thought I'd have a quick peek at the type of person that's liking the Porsche page.
Turns out they're not trying to put Nukes together, they're all at home polishing their Porkers

I love the car, the white wheels are just about acceptable. I hate the dumb name and marketing drivel that goes with it though.

That huge lightbar at the back is not an attractive configuration!
Really? I love that extra bar on the 4S!MrTickle said:
Nice car park
Looks familiar Museum car park in Stuttgart, most pristine white painted car park I've ever seen.Fabric said:

I have to disagree, I really really like that back light - it always struck as a bit weird for the C4s models (from the 996 onwards) to have that red reflective strip but not have the ability to light up; finally Porsche has applied what should have been done from the get go!What a load of utter tripe.
You'd have thought that a serious car company might have managed to avoid things like this. They've managed to out-Ferrari Ferrari on this one (by some margin).
Regardless of what the car is actually like, this has to be the worst "special" edition I've ever seen.

Who gives a monkey's toss what a bunch of nerds on Facebook think anyway, Porsche, please wake up & grow up, this is utterly pathetic and demeaning marketing. Ferrari must be laughing their socks off at this, that is if they stoop to using Facebook...........
(PS. This comes from a a man that's proudly owned 911's since 1984).

I assume that's said without a hint of irony? (PS. This comes from a a man that's proudly owned 911's since 1984).
Whilst I far from agree with the name and paint scheme to match the website, I'm afraid 'the bunch of nerds' on Facebook are exactly where Porsche need to be! The fact they have interacted with their Facebook fans so significantly illustrates they have indeed 'woken up' and 'grown up' as you so forcefully suggest they should do. Any company who fails to recognise the significance of social media is doomed in the modern advertising marketplace.
Whilst you may not agree with, or like (no pun intended), Facebook, you surely can't be blind to its significance? There are somewhere in the region of 1billion active users on Facebook. And the fact you are calling those 1billion people 'a bunch of nerds' on a car website discussion forum (with a few thousand active users) is somewhat ironic in itself....
