lol i drive faster than that going to work smile

the speed they catch and pass over cars is pretty slow, so if its speed up they needed to give it a couple more clicks smile

not sure what the fuss is with this film

God. The smugness of some people : Oh it's dubbed, overlaid. He wasn't really going at those speeds.

If you don't like it, fine. Chundering on about how it isn't authentic, it's a fraud, rather misses the point.

It's an entertainment fix. Sit back, watch, listen, enjoy . climb back down from your anuses.

Really, lighten up. cool
+1. You can almost hear the triumphant keyboard-clicking as people fall over themselves to froth indignantly. It's a lovely piece of film.

"He was only doing 70 mph" etc etc

Yeah, through the middle of PARIS, in a car weighing 2 tons, with no ABS, on cobbles, in semi darkness.

The bloke is a legend, the film is awesome.

Try that today and you'd be strung up by the testicles for being a nun killing kitten murderer.

I agree it was special at the time and was a bit of fun to make _ it is as realistic as any Jerry Bruckheimer movie.

I don't care that it has a dubbed soundtrack.

I don't care that it was a Merc and not a Ferrari.

I don't care that there was going to be orgy afterwards as there were three blokes in the car, not one (may have made the orgy bit up)

I don't car that the film is speeded up.

At the end of the day, the film maker did something we would all enjoy doing and ended up getting arrested for it. it is still one of those benchmark films that we all know about.

However, would I pay 15 quid for 10 minutes of film. Absolutely not.

Amazing timing, as I've just finished filming the follow-up to this, around the streets of Bedford.

I've been using a Ferrari Enzo, with dubbed-on engine sounds of a Golf TDi onto the finished version.
The film is available from my secure on-line shop, priced at only £29.99.

Order "Bonjour Bedford" now in time for Christmas.

Given that the engine noise is fake anyway, you might as well watch the music video version.
I preferred the one with "Fast track" dubbed over it but I think it's been pulled frown
So here's the music and you can just watch the video on one tab while the music play on t'other smile

Anyway, looking at the speed of the heave and rebound, does it really look sped up?
Even if it is a meer 70mph, isn't that quite fast for a big Merc on 70s rubber?

Here's that bloke (Alex Roy) talking about C'euRV

But I haven't watched it yet so I don't know if it's interesting or just a bunch of waffle.

I have the 'Definitive Edition' of that on DVD. Might watch it tonight. And that other John Frankenheimer car classic 'Grand Prix'.

It's almost exactly the same as "Getaway In Stockholm" (except they're not getting away from anything and it isn't in Stockholm)
Atleast it's real although I do love rendezvous from an artistic perspective.

Just can't not love GIS 1 with that Porsche flat six cloud9

I love GIS 1, but a mate think the film is speeded up, when a lighthouse comes into the frame it does seem to be spinning very quickly indeed...what do you think ?

This is arguably cooler - same city, classic GSX-R1100...Peripherique taken a toute vitesse, proper timing, crappy VHS print. Tres bon.

Detractors here are tedious philistines. It's a very beautifully crafted seminal piece of film-making, including the dubbed 275GTB (belonging to the director iirc) which sounds utterly gorgeous.

Watched at home on something rather better than your crappy iphones or laptops, this will look awesome.

It is of its time. If you can't appreciate it, go back to your multiplex blockbusters.

I think the best online car driving clips are:

The RS4 and M5 I think it was and Kart Vader driving at night on public roads in his very quick Kart.

Epic piece of film making. It's a shame the engine dubbing wasn't as well done as it could have been, but never-the-less a fantastic (albeit short!) piece of 'spirited' driving.....and i thought the sensation of speed via a bumper-mounted camera came originally from Gran Turismo on the PS1 smile
