Having a bit of an idle dream...

When am I going to be able to get a V6-S or V8 f-Type for £25k....

4 years? longer?

Most Jags seem to shed their values at an alarming rate, as do other big luxury cruisers and GTs... similar for the sporty little fellas or do we think they'll cling on in there a bit better?

Obviously, complete speculation at this point! smile

I'd guess 7 years for a £25k car unless you go for Cat D or interstellar mileage. If they're like other jags they'll shed 40% in 3 years, but I can see these cars holding a bit firmer after that, being a new, desirable car and not a boggo XF, for example.

I have seen several 18 month old £100k XKR-S for sale at dealers for sub 60 grand..
A local specialest had a red one in, minimal milage, all the toys and 13 minth old up for 52k

So with that, im thinking 3-4 years and youll have the pick of the market

That would be astonishingly strong residuals for a mainstream brand! I know little about jags, but I'd have guessed 60+%.

I think I read somewhere that the guides were predicting 50% at 3 years.

50% of basic just maybe, definitely not including any extras.

I think these will st themselves within 2 years though, a boxster is more practical (try doing a week in the alps with the other half in an f type!) & an Aston gives more badge per buck, & that's before you consider everything else.

You'll see them late 20's come Xmas 2015 I reckon

How is a 2 seater boxster any less practical than the 2 seater F Type?

It isn't, it's more practical as it has 2 boots instead of none, that was kind of my point.

Boot on the Jag will be big enough to not need 2 smaller ones combined. And why would anyone buy a car like this for practicality? If you can fit a decent sized big in there it's big enough for a jaunt around Europe. Elise owners seem to manage ok. I'd suggest being better at packing hehe

Surely the other thing to consider is if they're at 25k at end of 2015 as predicted, where will they be in the summer of 2017/2018 18/30 months later?

I take it you didn't see Top Gear last week then? With the spare in the boot you'd struggle to get a bulky coat in there, let alone a bag.

Just checked. Jag boot without spare wheel (puncture repair kit which are useless if you get a flat at speed) 196 litres.

Boxster with spare wheel (space saver but still better) 280 litres

That's a heck of a difference!

I'd save a few quid and choose not to pay for a spare wheel. Can of tyre weld should do the job nicely. Plenty of room then.

On top of that I think the Jaguar is hideous. Very odd looking car.

More than a few of us I should think.

I want a v6s black or silver coupe with red leather if any buyers out there with that spec can you look after them please.

I might just be able to afford one in 10 years.

I'd like a V6S in the dark orange with the black/carbon wheels. Don't like the silver multi spokes. Actually I'd happily take the abused press car in that spec to be honest.

No doubt an F-Type would depreciate in line with other Jags, 60% over 3 years. XKs/XKRs have a horrific ability to hold money! A nice garish orange one etc such as seen on Top Gear last weekend would surely be slightly worse again!
