Colour choice is a bit subjective though isn't it? It doesn't change the fact that the e46 M3 is a bit of a bargain and a terrific car.

Pheonix Yellow is an absolutely minging colour and if PH had done thier research they would know that fact is reflected in the values that cars in that colour go for.

They'd also know that it isn't (unfortunately) a "rare" colour either.

In American Graffiti, Harrison Ford describes a coupe as "a cross between piss yella and puke green" and that is how I see Pheonix Yellow
everyone i know loves the colour, you must have ste taste

...or can we just agree that different people like different colours?

Cheapest (working) E36 I've seen is this one

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?t...

which I quite like, wrong colour, cloth interior, loads of miles and you need to provide your own wheels, perfect.

Most seem to be starting from £3750 however.

There's still movement in the price of E46s going on that info.
That E36 is a lot of car for the money. I guess it's rusty in the flesh but it seems tidy on the photos. Providing the engine is a decent unit you can't go wrong at that money. Could break it and make more.

I've always referred to Phoenix Yellow as 'Depreciation Yellow' as throughout the life of the E46 M3 it was the PE models that seemed to be the cheapeast. In spite of that, I have always liked it.

Brought up the subject of buying an e46 M3 with the Mrs last night. She listened to me rave on about what great cars they are and then asked why they're so cheap then? I need to come up with an answer that'll convince her we need an Imola red, manual car on 18's.
You won't.

Mainly because there aren't many IR's on eighteens, and I want one. (or LSB)

hehe
LSB's seem to be rare as rocking horse doo. Couldnt you get a set of 18's fairly easily by offering your 19's to swap?
Aye, wheels will be easy to sort.

I would love an LSB.
Here you go mate:

LSB is quite possibly my favorite colour. If only I could find one, then afford.
I quite like LSB myself. wink

Remember Tiff Needell's first go?

I was fortunate enough to do a few laps with Tiff @ Brands Hatch.

And a remapped M3 would piss all over your 330d remap for dust. You forget many M3's of the E46 are no longer standard.

adzpz said:
Is your 335d remapped though? Mine was remapped by Evolve and in a straight line it is marginally quicker than a M3, I've no doubt an M3 would leave me for dust in the twisty stuff. However as a baby carrier / dump dropper offer / B&Q picker upper machine my E91 335d leaves the M3 for dust smile

Edited by adzpz on Tuesday 13th August 13:54
I haven't got a 330d - mine is 335d - different animal and no remapping of an m3 would make it "piss all over it" in a straight line.
I've got an Evolve mapped E91 330d and whilst it's quick, it's a completely different experience to my old M3 and when pushing on, the M3 is leagues ahead of it. That said, the turbo power delivery makes it feel quicker lower down in the revs, and could possibly catch an M3 sleeping, but as the diesel runs out of revs the M3 gets on song. And then there's the noise...

I agree with adzpz regarding the practicality, the E91 has easily 200% more rear doors!

Insurance wise, I was paying £525 last year (30yo, 10 years nc, IAM, good pc) and I'm paying £450 with the map declared on the E91.

I'm getting just over double the mpg.
