Ahh, Dangels - splendid. And now very pricey because they've been adopted by connoisseurs of shabby chic.

A rather nice Dangel has a very brief cameo - at 04:42 - during Henry Catchpole's French road trip in a McLaren 12C:

IMO a slightly sad way to go on holiday, i.e. separated from your family.

I thought the idea of a hol was to spend time with them and get away from cars for a while.

Who loaned you the 63?

Do I see a personalised plate on the 512? Is TSR supposed to be short for Testarossa??? Why have a massive rant about private plates the other month then roll around with one on yours??? Busted Mr Harris

Grew up with one of these as our family car, its so true!

The floorpan in the back was buckled and I used to get hours of entertainment from it.

Ah, the Renault 14 - the only interesting thing about them was that the wheelbase was slightly longer on one side than the other.

I'll get my coat...

Dear Mr Harris

If, while browsing leboncoin, you happen across a pair of new front fogs (white or yellow) for a Citroen BX16V (early diesel shaped one) which I believe are shared with early Clios, do please shout smile

Have great hols - those are fuel economy figures to be proud of biggrin

I thought I was the only person that has a thing for these, here`s one I saw this year in an underground carpark in Val D`Isere!

Mrs Don Logan`s words - FFS what the F are you talking a picture of that for?

On the fuel front I took my R26R to Chamonix and back a couple of weeks ago (and only did Cols Forclaz and Gr Bernard) and used what I thought was a pityful 51 gallons over just 1,376 miles!

We going to run out of fuel one day, be thankful we can get hold of it with ease and press on with that awesome retro chrome gate.

As for the 4x4 estate, buy it fill it with french wine, get a mate to drive it back.

Job done.

Digging the Dangel.

But is the risk of getting one then that you get a serious itch to do something mad like drive it from London to Capetown via the coastal route? I seem to remember that in parts of Mauritania, the beach is the road, and it would look awesome on the Skeleton Coast in Namibia (is there anywhere more impossibly adventurous-sounding than that?).

Or it might just be the plate that came with the car being that it's a K reg which is consistent with the age of a 512TR?

If you do buy ione don't be tempted to join a posh megalomaniac who says he used to rally one and his mom was quite big in politics. He doesn't know the way in Algeria and he'll get you shot in some other African countries..
