They got 3 million for it scrap? Am I correct?

I wonder how much could've been made from her, if they'd turned it into a floating museum somewhere like the intrepid in NYC?

So sad seeing that being torn apart : (

Not my pictures, but I was nearby when this happened...

The loss to fire/explosion of two centurion 165mm AVREs ( aka: the antiques roadshow wink )belonging to 31 Armd Engr Sqn during Op Granby (1991 Gulf War)

They used to look like this...

...but after the explosion, there was little more left than a length of track. The photograph also only shows a single vehicle exploding. The result was that the fire took hold of a second vehicle which went the same way. Fully fuelled (with petrol) and armed with 165mm HESH rounds, as well as small arms ammunition for the secondary armament, I think you'll agree that it makes an "awesome" sight. And relatively few injuries, and minor ones at that, despite rumours that roadwheels were landing up to two miles away in an artillery position, which initially led them to believe that they were being subject to 'incoming' enemy fire hehe

The second one looks very like a 'shop to me. Chassis is a US early-WW2 M3 (Grant/Lee), but they had one turret and one side-mounted sponson.
