No idea about the MLRS limber. That'd be Artillery.

All we were really aware of out there was what was going on immediately around us, and what was happening on the radio. As a two set vehicle, we could only monitor two nets at any one time. We would run Engineer troop, squadron, or regimental net, depending upon the tactical situation, along with the Battle Group net, because as Engineers we were a Battle Group Commander's asset to task as he saw fit. Battle Group net also meant you got a heads up as far as 'contact' reports went, allowing us to 'keep up' with the battle going on ahead. As far as physically 'keeping up' went, we were always way behind. Armour were in Challengers, Infantry were in Warriors, and we Engineers were in Fv432 and Chieftain variants from the 1950s and 1960s, with a dozen Centurion AVREs which were originally built in the 1940s. We stood absolutely no chance of keeping up with Battle Group Main. It was fortunate that the desert was so vast really, which allowed space to manoeuvre around enemy positions, then 'mop them up' later. If the battle group had needed to task Engineer assets more often, I think the advance would have ground to a halt, as most of the vehicles we had needed to be coaxed and nursed on a daily basis, and if they'd really been called upon to work for a living, many would have failed, I reckon.

Typhoons are awesome - still not a patch on "proper" RAF fighters like the Phantom and Lightning though...
