If I'm right, that's a BvS 10 ATV(P) (or Viking), which would suggest Royal Marines (or Netherlands Marine Corps) involvement.

Here's one in significantly better shape.

Any background as to what led to it's destruction?

I'm hoping it was a mechanical breakdown in the badlands, with subsequent deliberate destruction to deny it to the enemy, rather than something involving casualties...

Indeed it is a BvS 10 Viking, glad that you recognise it. smile

You are correct, it was a destruction, although it was after an IED strike (luckily without fatalities)

I am experienced with Vikings after the regiment I was with, took over from the Marines. Fantastic vehicles, although perhaps used for the wrong purpose.

Not very pedestrian friendly in the event of a collision, though!

Déjà vu perhaps, but I am in that picture. You can clearly see me in the full resolution version and I know where to look as I was wearing a bright red coat and had noted where I was when the helicopter passed over.

I got a bit of déjà vu there also. Then realised it's because I posted the photo (or one at a slightly different angle) previously, which led to you mentioning it hehe

Still quite an impressive picture though!
