Don't want to discourage you CDG if you're sure, but it's not really burgundy is it, it's a bit rhubarb & custard!
I'm a sucker for different, but still liveable-with, interiors. I think a tan or rhubarb and custard (as you very rightly called it) interior is rather lovely, and much more interesting than grey or cream.Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the auction, so unless a threadist is going and prepared to check it over properly and then, all being well, is prepared to spend my money, it'll remain a dream.

Very nice. I prefer the basic cars and no aircon and sport cloth appeals to me. They look good to me in black too.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C487913
The best engine but no Sportline badges so is it s Sportline chassis?
Might need a wiring loom and/or head gasket soon, given the mileage, but price allows for that.
And as usual nowhere near me!!

I guess the condition of the suspension and mechanicals might influence the driving impressions, depending on how old the cars were when you drove them.I've been looking for either a 190 or a W124, the W126 is not in contention as the running costs and fuel economy have scared me off.
Does anyone have any views on the difference in driving feel between the 190 and W124?
I seem to see lots of good (or at least, good-looking) W124s popping up for sale but a relative dearth of decent 190s, especially those with six cylinders and/or in a decent spec...

I definitely want to get to a few of the Kings Lynn auctions this year. It'd be a good venue for a forum meet, but I'm not sure that peer pressure from like minded individuals and auctions are a healthy combination!
That's a good idea actually. What a hoot - a bunch of internet youngtimer nerds egging each other on! What could possibly go wrong. Oh, the stories we'd have...!

Just wanted to make sure you'd noticed on this 124 since it's both rhubarb & custard and marmite at the same time!

Absolutely... different is definitely good. I had the good fortune to bump into threadist Adrian E at the PH SouthEast get together on Tuesday and see his amazing 2002 4.2 S8 with different purple interior - now that's a BARGE.

And then there is this. Price strikes me as insane given it lacks a six. But even so, it harks back to the days when a proper car was a proper car.

these are really great cars. I still look at them after owning a couple 20 odd years ago.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C487928

for those who liked MTSVs 300E, how about this one? A lovely colour combination:

eta. it's got the wrong 15-holes on, easy to find replacements
Not massively far from me if anyone wants me to have a look of they're genuinely interested. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C487706#

I'm viewing this car Saturday. Don't expect to purchase it but, if E65 costs come back (I'm hoping to be relatively repair-free for the rest of the year bar potentially thrust-control arms) and it needs big bills I may sell it and get something like this (or this if it is still around.
My, how you've changed. It's certainly a nice colour.

Where does this take place? I might try and be a bit more sociable in future and join-in a bit.The meeting was arranged via this thread:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
and look out for posts by 'ironictwist' who does the organising.
It was my 1st one but I gather they happen the same Tuesday each month. Should be less pressure on numbers next time as I gather the new venue can cope with 300 cars.
Not sure exactly where the new venue is but expect it to be in reasonably short distance of Redhill

Fun and games over the last few days with the recent barge, the E220T. Noticed when I got it that the offside indicator lens had a tiny hole in it, and the stone that did it still inside. No problem, I had a pair of clear lenses sitting about form when I re-ambered the 230TE before I sold it. So, fitted new offside one and threw the damaged one in the bin.
Drove to work, no problem. Left work, and half way home again indicated and dash light starts flashing. "OK just a bulb" thinks I and drives the rest of the way home. Goes into house and comes out with spare bulbs - only to find the whole indicator missing! Bu££er.
No probs, the perfect excuse to get 2 new ambers (even though it's a facelift car, but they look better with silver than clear ones do) So car off the road for a week until I get 2 new ambers. Fitted them on Sunday, drove to work Monday, drove home, everything fine. Come out of house this morning and what is lying in the road? One offside amber indicator lens. It was definitely in place last night and the car hasn't moved an inch for 48 hours so WTF?
You have to laugh.
I've had the same happen to me. They're quite difficult to locate properly. You have to keep the spring clip tensioned on the inside while pushing it home (hard) from the outside until the spring clip overcomes the retainer. Which is easier said than done. I suspect that last night the spring clip "sprung".Drove to work, no problem. Left work, and half way home again indicated and dash light starts flashing. "OK just a bulb" thinks I and drives the rest of the way home. Goes into house and comes out with spare bulbs - only to find the whole indicator missing! Bu££er.

Having been bitten twice, I have since also looped a cable tie through the bracket as a "belt and braces" so that if one does pop out again at least it can't fall off the car completely!
