Just affects the 2.8 and 3.2 24v engines in the post-'93 facelift models, no?

Yes, post 93.
300E, no. 300-24v, no. 280's, 320's yes. Its all to do with the lower quality insulation and also wiring passing across the top of the engine I think.

C36 has stainless manifolds and generates lots of under bonnet heat, although mine was repaired inexpensively some years back. Its only wire after all.

It went on my 1993 24valve diesel as well. There is much less to the loom on the diesel.

The chap with the blue 560 SEC just called me back after I'd left him a voicemail on Monday. Sounds like a nice car and has had the rear parcel shelf rust problem dealt with, but deposit now taken. I take it if it was anyone on here they would have mentioned it. smile

Absolutely... different is definitely good. I had the good fortune to bump into threadist Adrian E at the PH SouthEast get together on Tuesday
Where does this take place? I might try and be a bit more sociable in future and join-in a bit.
The venue was on the A25 a few miles East of Redhill, but will be changing from next month onwards

The meeting was arranged via this thread:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

and look out for posts by 'ironictwist' who does the organising.

It was my 1st one but I gather they happen the same Tuesday each month. Should be less pressure on numbers next time as I gather the new venue can cope with 300 cars.

Not sure exactly where the new venue is but expect it to be in reasonably short distance of Redhill smile
Would be great to see more barge action at a future PH South East meet, I've been to most of the ones over the last year. I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for any sniff of an MB World Sunday Service too.

Big Al.
