Love a reply that ends in multiple fullstops.

It says nate t, it looks like nate t. Just wondered if this was worth anything as someone who doesnt go in for that type of thing.

Replying to a thread of a genuine question asked in innocence with a ste attempt a sarcasm gives a pretty strong clue to the value of the post.................................................................................................

Hey look my fullstop buttons stuck too.
No, it doesn't. smile

It says N4 TET and it looks like N4 TET.

You yourself even said I think it says Nate T.

If you tilt the 4, modify it a bit, then add a couple of black number plate screws, and then mis-space it you can get it close-ish. But then if you're going to bugger about that much why not just replace your plate with NATE T? Both are equally illegal.

Sorry it's not what you wanted to hear, and good luck getting your keyboard fixed.

It was probably a standard-price plate from DVLA originally (I think those are usually priced at £280?) and is probably worth somewhere between £250-£500, although of course you do need to find someone who actually wants it - but as others have said, a few adverts wouldn't hurt and will probably shift it.

There are plenty of people who would do that. Those people might be idiots but their money is still money and therefore the plate might be worth something. Probably not a fortune, but something nevertheless.

Nope, once it's gone, it's gone. DVLA don't re-issue expired numbers.
Not quite true. You can get plates back from the DVLA, but I think it depends on the situation.

Totally agree. However I can't imagine it's very much (probably about what the OP originally guessed). By the time you figure in the cost of putting it on retention it's a lot of hassle for very little (if any) return.

Think outside the box - perhaps the OP could find an ex-Vietcong soldier that might be interested in it.

I wasn't expecting anything other than a rough valuation from people who know/ are interested in this type of thing. Might not be worth anything, might be worth a couole hundred quid.

Not expecting people who don't like personalised plates or see them as a waste of money to see themselves as being asked a question, they would be strange people to ask let alone offer a opinion ?

Your right it does say N4 TET not Nate T. No one called Nathan who wanted to have his name on a car would think it said Nate T either. This guy is a mug too doesn't realise his name hasn't got a number in it!

I will ring these guys up and tell them they are in the wrong business now as well, unless they have gone out of business already from the lack of customers.

Cheers fella.

I have emailed a few companies to see the valuation. Seems most do sell it for scheme so might just do it that way and if it doesn't sell, transfer it over to my motorbike so I can have a smaller plate on the sidemount.

I let S55 PSG lapse for over two years, but a letter and one phone call saw me get it back for a small fee and now it lives once more on my TVR (as seen in profile pic)

It is possible to get them back, or maybe I was just lucky.

What an utterly bizarre post!

AMS is Alan Sugar's initials. The following "1" is a number. What makes you think he thinks it's a letter?

You asked what the plate the bloke left on your car was worth, I was merely demonstrating that since you're not sure yourself what it means, the answer is probably not a lot. As I said in my previous post, sorry it's not what you wanted to hear.

Do you think it says Nathan now?

I do actually have a personal plate on my car, so I'm not quite sure what all the ranting about "Not expecting people who don't like personalised plates or see them as a waste of money to see themselves as being asked a question," is about really.

Would you like me to tell you it's worth at least £1,000? Would that help? confused

Didn't occur on November 4th though. Could try finding out if said VC's car has a normally aspirated engine; might just be able to work that angle wink

Oh god he is still here.

It is sorted thanks Ari. Other answered the query I had and offered useful information on a topic I don't know about. Thanks to those guys.

Seem it could be worth £150-£250 if anyone wants it seems the going rate for a plate of this type (roughly my initial thoughts as in OP). You seem to think I want to be told it worth millions, I don't think I have come across this way, sorry if you have thought I was money grubbing.

The person who wants it will more than likely be called Nathan, probably with the second name beginning with T.

A shortening of Nathan is Nate.

The number four is very similar to a capital A. Easily replaceable in the world of word recognition on number plates. No squinting needed or head turning needed as you suggested. Hear see if you can read this

YOU 4RE SEEMINGLY PICKING 4N 4RGUEMENT FOR A SIMPLELY 4SKED QUESTION. You probably can't read that with the numbers in the way making it not make sense

You have read my OP of "I think it looks like Nate T" as in my opinion, as being "I think it looks like Nate T?" with a rising intonation. Thats where you made the mistake of thinking too hard and got excited about being the smart one. If that were the case the thread would have been titled "what do you think my number plates says". Which it didn't. Clues are all there if you look.

I knew the second I saw it it looked like Nate T (why we have always called the car Nate), I wasn't sure what it was worth, if anything ( hence the title of the thread ). I didn't expect to hear anything other than advise on the subject, you demonstrated nothing to me other than smart arsed pedantry.

Your comments seem to be wrong and that it is worth something if I can find a buyer.

People offered advise as to how to make the transfer happened and costs involved, as I asked. Very helpful replies.

You can have it for a grand if you like, it isn't worth that but you seem like a mug.

Hopefully all questions answered buddy and you are less confused now.

Have a lovely weekend being you.

Straight purchase would be great.

Cheers fella.

It's a shame Ho Chi Minh is dead; he'd have loved that.

Actually most Viet Cong probably wouldn't believe in such capitalist frippery so probably not a lot.

I should advertise as a Community Plate as opposed to a Private Plate then.

I would get 30,000 Dong easy then.
