V70 D5 or A6 Avant TDI 130?

Because, like the rest of PH, I'm completely incapable of choosing a teaspoon, let alone a car, without avocation from the PH community, I'm interested in people's thoughts on the above.

Regards the Audi I'd be looking at older C5 body shape in SE spec, so not worried about the crashy ride of the Sport models and as far as I know the 130 PD engine in the Audi is pretty much unbustable.

Regards the Volvo I'd be looking at the older 163 engine rather than the 185 as I've heard the latter can throw a bill or two regards DPFs etc.

I'm thinking manual box on either. I've heard tales that this can be the weak link in the Volvo drivetrain regards bork-age.

Money wise both come in at about the same (purchase price, tax, insurance, fuel costs) but I can't help but shake the feeling that the Audi would be a heart choice rather than a head choice but I know both are sensible cars. I'm not interested in PH-ness. I have no interest in track days, tailsliding it or generally having any fun... I've got another car for that. I just want something big, comfy, and reliable.

Is there's anything I should be particularly aware of on either cars
