Buying a car when the seller just has the green slip...?
Discussion
As the title says, really...
I'm quite interested in a car that the seller has only had a month, and therefore only has the greenslip from the previous V5 as the rest is still in the post to him.
It's pretty likely I'm going to run a mile, because of this.
But just out of interest... how would it work?
Would you run a mile too?
Notwithstanding the fact he only had it a month (alarm bells) how would you go forward with a purchase in this situation?
Surely, if I bought it, I'd end up with a useless greenslip that's filled in with his details, and then the V5 would still drop on HIS doormat and leave me without one or at his mercy to sort..?
V5 etc only tells you the keeper.
You can still change owner while waiting for DVLA to catch up with keepers, so make sure you get a receipt confirming he is the owner and no outstanding finance.
There's always a V62
