Back in March 2010 (I think) I bought a Red Leon Cupra R 210 from Blackbushe BCA Auction near Surrey. It was and still is one immaculate car. You may of got a speeding ticket sent to you soon after selling it lol. The car also had a PistonHeads badge on the back. Reg ending MKK. Longshot I know but did anyone here own it?

Can you tell me if it is remapped or chipped in anyway? It seems to have far more power than 210bhp. I've obviously been driving it for a while now but even I was surprised to keep pace with a BMW 650i the other day! We hit 150mph without batting an eyelid and it still wanted to keep going but the BMW wussed out lol.

Or maybe someone can tell me how I can find out?

Why would you buy a hatchback SEAT if you have a private runway? wink

I don't think a Cupra would hit 150 if it was fitted with the engine from an F-14. Both of them.

But then you just get the name and address of the previous owner, rather than telling the internet your cool story.

This is going to go down like a lead balloon, but I have personally seen an indicated 150mph from a red '03 Cupra, so for once I believe him. This car was mapped, bigger turbo, intercooler and exhaust. They wouldn't be my thing at all but I was very very impressed with how it went. The previous owner estimated it to be between 260 and 280 bhp.

It probably would, given that the next Cupra R had what, 265bhp and was limited to 155mph.
Yeah but F-14 engines weigh quite a bit. tongue out

150mph was the top speed of the Cupra R 225, power limited, not gearing iirc. I had a 280bhp Cupra R and it was fast, but I don't think those last 20mph would have come all that easily, a 650i would be pulling hard when the LCR was running out of puff. That said, I never tried a top speed run.

For those misinformed people: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/facts-and-fi...

The handbook quotes the 210 top speed at 147mph if I recall.

All I want to know is if the previous owner can confirm if its been remapped. I don't want to hear from idiots.

The speeding ticket was a 43 in a 40. Harsh but I was slowing from 50. And not that i should need to tell you I was on a race track. If you haven't driven a Cupra R then you can't comment. End of.

I've driven a Cupra R close to the speeds mentioned without much effort.
My friend used to have a Cupra R and it easily sat at 150 without too much effort...Not a supercar beater but definitely not as ridiculous as some of you are claiming.

It was almost certainly mine smile Glad to hear that it is still on the road and yes I did get a request for ownership information from South Yorkshire police shortly after selling it wink

I had the trial Revo map put on, but that only lasted for a few days - so yes it is standard.

I'm not sure I would describe it as immaculate though, my wife kerbed all 4 of the alloys, scraped the front bumper, reversed into a post deforming the rear bumper and one of my daughters friends threw up ALL over the back seats. It took ages to get rid of the smell frown I'm also very surprised to hear your max speed claim, although a fast car I'm not sure it is quite up to that.

I owned it from new for 7 years and almost as soon as I part exchanged it I regretted doing so frown However it had reached that stage in it's life where it was starting to go wrong and I decided it was time to part ways. The clutch also felt like it was on it's way out and there was a nasty knocking noise coming from the front right suspension.

Glad you are enjoying it.

Rob

Edit: Are you sure it was 2010 you bought it and not 2011 ?
