Did I buy your Red 03 Cupra R from auction? Got a question.

That's a hell of a coincidence.....
What makes him an idiot? You came on a thread asking about a car you clearly know little about, tried, and failed, to make a joke, then were proven to be completely wrong.
Why not just leave it and exit the thread before it turns into the usual argument?

It was almost certainly mine Glad to hear that it is still on the road and yes I did get a request for ownership information from South Yorkshire police shortly after selling it
I had the trial Revo map put on, but that only lasted for a few days - so yes it is standard.
I'm not sure I would describe it as immaculate though, my wife kerbed all 4 of the alloys, scraped the front bumper, reversed into a post deforming the rear bumper and one of my daughters friends threw up ALL over the back seats. It took ages to get rid of the smell I'm also very surprised to hear your max speed claim, although a fast car I'm not sure it is quite up to that.
I owned it from new for 7 years and almost as soon as I part exchanged it I regretted doing so However it had reached that stage in it's life where it was starting to go wrong and I decided it was time to part ways. The clutch also felt like it was on it's way out and there was a nasty knocking noise coming from the front right suspension.
Glad you are enjoying it.

Howdy. The bumper is only slightly wonky. I put a brand new clutch in it not too long ago goes like a rocket and yes it will hit 150mph, on the clock at least. It still wants to go but probably not much. I had the trial Revo map put on, but that only lasted for a few days - so yes it is standard.

I did notice some staining on the seats but got it pro valeted. No biggie.
Front splitter is split ironically but most of that is down to the crappy roads up here.
Had four new springs put on it. The last lot were knackered which might explain the knocking, it now sits slightly higher so the splitter is happier for it.

So, just to clarify, you got a speeding ticket for doing 43 in a 40?
And you managed 150mph on track in your Seat, alongside someone else on the same track day in their 650? Surely that's not what you're saying, that's ridiculous.
I can't think of many (if any) tracks in this country where a car so heavy and comparatively slow could hit 150mph?And you managed 150mph on track in your Seat, alongside someone else on the same track day in their 650? Surely that's not what you're saying, that's ridiculous.

I got done coming off a roundabout doing 43 in a 40. And then ON A SEPARATE OCCASION I was on a track, get this... On another day too! Imagine that.

Who cares where it was? Or even if it's true?
Why does every thread on here end with people dedicating their whole night to prove the OP wrong?
Same reason you feel the need to defend him? Why does every thread on here end with people dedicating their whole night to prove the OP wrong?
Anyone starting a thread with "pulling 150mph against a 650 without batting an eyelid" etc etc is going to get treated the same.

I actually popped into the thread to stick up for him, in defence of his cars top speed.
Then he started telling lies to cover up his previous lies, so I thought I'd ask some more questions, that's all.
Fair enough. But let's be honest, we all know it wasn't on a track... He just doesn't want to say that online. It will just go around in circles all night until 300 comes in to tell us that his smart car could outhandle it on the 'ring and ROG reports him to the police. Then he started telling lies to cover up his previous lies, so I thought I'd ask some more questions, that's all.

I've driven a Cupra R close to the speeds mentioned without much effort.
My friend used to have a Cupra R and it easily sat at 150 without too much effort...Not a supercar beater but definitely not as ridiculous as some of you are claiming.
I'm a little confused also.My friend used to have a Cupra R and it easily sat at 150 without too much effort...Not a supercar beater but definitely not as ridiculous as some of you are claiming.
I've seen a video of a 210 Cupra R with an induction kit, map and miltek approaching (and just surpassing IIRC) 160 indicated. With 5 people on board.
Bloody quick things, not sure why the OP would mention it on the internet though.

Because it sounds like the kind of thing the pub bullstter would come out with. You know how you can make something sound like bullst, even if it's true, by the WAY you say it? Prime example.
Again, why? What part of anything that's been said is hard to believe? This really is a hate filled forum isn't it?
That's right you got me. I was doing 150 in a housing estate in Bromley. Terrible I know.
Have any of you heard of a place called the Nurburgring? Oh that's right it's not in this country, but then again I never said I was in this country did I?
Idiots. I'm out of hear.

so much blame but also quite quick it would seem.... it was a nice motor! Centurion07 said:
The "150mph without batting an eyelid", which has then been changed to "150, on the clock at least, a little more to go but not much", which, when looking at this page ( http://www.seatcupra.net/index.php?option=com_cont... ) that quotes 2008 Leon race cars managing a paltry 140mph at Thruxton of all places, makes it sound a tad untruthful.
So everyone is telling lies then? I'm not sure what that link has to do with anything at all?SMcP114 said:

I'm suprised to hear Cupras are capable of that speed and will quite happily concede that, but you were asking me about my comments on the OP. I also find it ironic that you didn't want the thread to descend into an argument, when it seems you like arguing with me?
I'm just glad my old car finally got to make a trip to the ring - I always wanted to go but could never quite bring myself to risk it as it was our only car and I didn't like the idea of breaking it.
I'm also glad that it has gone to someone that appreciates it as much as I did and who is spending money on keeping it in shape rather than sticking load of Halfords tat on it and ruining it

First thing I did was put 4 brand spanking new Yokohama Parada Spec 2s on it. £140 each. I'm also glad that it has gone to someone that appreciates it as much as I did and who is spending money on keeping it in shape rather than sticking load of Halfords tat on it and ruining it
