Did I buy your Red 03 Cupra R from auction? Got a question.

This really is a hate filled forum isn't it?
That's right you got me. I was doing 150 in a housing estate in Bromley. Terrible I know.
Have any of you heard of a place called the Nurburgring? Oh that's right it's not in this country, but then again I never said I was in this country did I?
Idiots. I'm out of hear.
OP has been here long enough to know how PH works. That's right you got me. I was doing 150 in a housing estate in Bromley. Terrible I know.

This thread gives a good example of how many miserable tossers there are on here, and I'm not talking about the OP.
Yes, I think the OP conducted himself well, it's a shame some feel they have to try and drive people off the forum. Glad you got the information you were looking for, OP

Even Garlick stuck a boot in early on!
I'm waiting for somebody to call custard on the Nurburgring

I can't think of many (if any) tracks in this country where a car so heavy and comparatively slow could hit 150mph?
It depends on your definition of "Track".2 x remapped Octavia vRS, back straight at Bruntingthorpe. Both went through the speed trap at 144mph. One of them was my old car. A remapped Cupra R will do 150 i think but it will need the best part of 2 miles to do it.
As for the BMW Driver, if he exists then he wasn't trying.

I also never said everyone was telling lies. I'm suprised to hear Cupras are capable of that speed and will quite happily concede that, but you were asking me about my comments on the OP. I also find it ironic that you didn't want the thread to descend into an argument, when it seems you like arguing with me?
I wasn't arguing with you, I'm just interested to know why some people dedicate their evening to 'outing' an anonymous person on the internet. I'm not sure if that's on all forums, but especially on here.
I like the Leon Cupra R.
A mate had one Years ago, probably around 2004. That was mechanically standard apart from a Revo remap.
Quick car as I recall, I can remember being a passenger in it when it was showing 158mph on the speedo, which I remember being imprressed with.
I think it reasonable for a standard one to register 150 on the speedo, given that it's book top speed is mid to high 140's.

Who cares where it was? Or even if it's true?
Why does every thread on here end with people dedicating their whole night to prove the OP wrong?
Because its the type of wker PH attracts, all big headed know it alls who inexplicably must have factual proof of absolutely EVERTHING no matter what. These type usually sit in the corner of the local pub and are usually known as the pub bore who when confronted face to face will st themselves but are plenty brave behind the keyboard..Why does every thread on here end with people dedicating their whole night to prove the OP wrong?

Had one of these in 06. It was an 03 plate 210 and it did shift. Fantastic car, turned in sharply (with the ESP off), loads of room and more performance than you need for a public road. Carried me and my wife (then girlfriend) effortlessly down to Devon with a frame tent, 2 surfboards on the roof and a weeks luggage no issues and was a great steer on fantastic roads when we got there. Great in traffic on the daily commute and grin inducing in lanes. Looks fantastic and sounds great too. Where is all the hate for this car coming from???? Badge snobs???? Or the usual PH uninformed heavily built directors???
OP enjoy the car - Great car and not one I would have sold, but unfortunately some oik removed it from my drive one night!!!

Seems to happen a lot.
Someone makes some sort of claim.
Someone else calls them a liar hoping to be the leader for no apparent reason.
A few others go against the grain and back up the apparent 'liar' and side with what he is saying.
The initial 'liar hunters' st out of it and disappear to find someone else to witch hunt.
Pathetic really since the majority of members are grown men.

In still reluctant to believe it even if it was at the ring.
My 400ishbhp Impreza struggles to get much above 140mph at the Ring and certainly would t be alongside anyone else at that speed. I have a friend with a heavily modded Ibiza (I know it's not quite the same) pushing about 300bhp and my Impreza comfortably gets away from it at higher speeds. So I can't believe a standard Leon is easily hitting higher speeds than my Scoob.
Also bearing in mind a friend of mine regularly runs an modded and stripped E46 M3 at the Ring and even on a track day there where you can use the whole straight where the Tourists normally come on and off he is only hitting a GPS of 151mph.
Of course speedo 150 could mean a real 120-130 which is believeable but much less impressive.

People do need to stop disbelieving everything. Many a standard 1.6tdi or 1.8 will do an indicated 120. Its not hard to believe a car like that could show an indicated 150. Seems like a nice, straightforward post and the guy was correct and everyone jumped on him.
