So, just to clarify, you got a speeding ticket for doing 43 in a 40?
And you managed 150mph on track in your Seat, alongside someone else on the same track day in their 650? Surely that's not what you're saying, that's ridiculous.
I can't think of many (if any) tracks in this country where a car so heavy and comparatively slow could hit 150mph?And you managed 150mph on track in your Seat, alongside someone else on the same track day in their 650? Surely that's not what you're saying, that's ridiculous.

This surprises me, as my car will manage closer to 160mph with only 220bhp.
I don't understand?Id have expected a newer car, even a hot hatch, to be more aerodynamically efficient, too.

You said that 150mph is achievable with 280bhp and I said: Im surprised (that it wont do far more) because my car will do 157mph with 217bhp. With 280bhp Id expect closer to 170mph.

I never said it wouldn't do more, just that I had personally seen 150 in one.Id have expected a newer car, even a hot hatch, to be more aerodynamically efficient, too.
Top speed is mainly determined by gearing. It would most definitely not do 170 mph.

This really is a hate filled forum isn't it?
That's right you got me. I was doing 150 in a housing estate in Bromley. Terrible I know.
Have any of you heard of a place called the Nurburgring? Oh that's right it's not in this country, but then again I never said I was in this country did I?
Idiots. I'm out of hear.
I actually feel you have been rather unfairly treated on this thread, the amount of bragging about power, speed and so on is all over this forum. That's right you got me. I was doing 150 in a housing estate in Bromley. Terrible I know.

Nobody believed you, and yet the previous owner got in touch - well done.
That car could easily do 150mph indicated +/- 15% for error at that speed.
Next time run the GPS for a better reading.
I reckon you could VMAX that car at Brunters and hit close to 150mph, hopefully they will invite you and you could run the speed trap for an accurate result.
Craig - where are you?!

The Focus ST with 222bhp is *supposed* to do 152mph flat-out. It won't, trust me. The only time I got over 150 was with an aggressive Dreamscience remap taking the power up a wodge to 270bhp and even then the car was only just showing 154mph on GPS (the clock was so far out at that speed it was useless - it was off the dial showing >160mph). It took an extra ~50bhp to get up over 150.
And yes, I was in Germany. On the way to the 'Ring. And I'm not bullstting about that, here I am on the 'Ring:
I'd be staggered if a 10 year old Cupra can hit '150 without batting an eyelid'.

Dammit! It's not fair.Does anyone have a story (true or otherwise) about a MINI, an Audi S4, a random Fiesta, Polo, Golf, A2, MX-6, 121 (bubble car shape, silly bear wheels optional), 911, fiats of the panda/bravo type, 206, any other car I've forgotten I have driven, Japanses supercars from video games, hire car of some sort, white van transitalike, or similar I can comment on?
