Whoops, petrol in a diesel car!
Discussion
Ok, I will fess up, I made the moron mistake the other night.
In my defence I'd had a bad few days and was utterly cream crackered!
Thankfully I realised the moment I stopped pumping and didn't start the thing.
Local chap helped me out, was a complete pain due to anti syphon on the tank, so he hooked my car up to the fuel on his van and we ran it till the fuel pump emptied the tank into his storage tank.
Surprised how quick it went through 60 litres!
Was expecting to see he world worst mpg on the computer but interestingly it didn't budge... So I guess it's worked out at the injection system and volume of fuel in the tank is ignored. Never realised that.
Go on, own up, who else has done it?
Or should I hand in my membership on the way out?

A replacement fuel cap that will prevent this costs less than £20...
Never thought I needed one of those, 30k miles a year for a decade and never done it before...I guess I may be going feeble minded so agreed to let a chum buy me one!
Whilst stuck at an East Midlands motorway services for three hours in the small hours you do get to meet some odd characters!
In a former job I received samples from other company's and one day a company sent 50 or so light activated "warning diesel alert" stick on's. This device gave an audible warning that the vehicle was a diesel and sounded off when the fuel flap was opened.
The packaging they arrived in was very tough and rather than give in and cut the packaging I continued to pull until it burst sending the contents all over the office.
This then resulted in all the sensors sounding off, and took some time to locate and destroy
