Hi,

Quick question - does anyone know what esure charge for comprehensive cover whilst abroad. I was thinking of taking out a policy with them but will require 2-4 weeks per year abroad. They are otherwise extremely competitive but I realise this is an extra charge. I can't find the details anywhere on their website. Any current customers know the charges?

Thanks
Steve

Insurance don't charge extra for euro use do they ?...Mine doesn't.

BUT do you mean euro breakdown cover which is a separate thing ?

as a comparable recently had to add 2 weeks to the parents cover for their eurotrip (Privilege) and it came to £36.05. (third party only was free)

The policy was originally £260ish for a married couple in their mid-late 50's

Third party cover is included by EU law AIUI.

Most insurance policies (and certainly every one I've ever had) include European cover. Last year's was a bit stingy and only gave two weeks though.

Esure definitely charge for comprehensive cover (third party is provided as suggested above, but this is not enough cover for me). The question that I can't seem to find the answer to is how much they charge, as this may make the policy not such a good idea if it's a lot.

you need to call them. Was a diff amount by the day/risk rating/county (they asked) in my example above

Many people don't realise that some Insurance companies will only provide for the legal minimum cover when outside the UK territorial limits. Bin it and you won't get a penny.

I twigged on to this six or seven years ago with my motorcycle policy and have made sure ever since that Comprehensive cover applies at all times for both the cars and bikes.

I called them and they said they couldn't say until I requested it, assuming I took the policy. They said it changes every day depending on risk assessment. I asked if they could give me a rough figure, for example a week in France or Germany and their advisor said no - couldn't tell me if it would be £10 or £100.

Not very helpful... Good one Esure, you've lost a potential customer there.
