What's the biggest cheapest piece of crap transit sized mpv?
Discussion
so I can collect furniture, go up the dump, etc without getting turned away to fly-tip cos they're so tight these days. I used to have a 500 quid citroen piccaso mpv was quite good with the seats out, until it failed mot big time on chassis rust. What else is similar? Cheap ved would be good & must be a petrol motor. Budget as small as poss but vehicle must last a couple of years.
'Handling' not important.

Sharan/Galaxy is a good shout but I would vote for the Toyota Previa. 500 quid will get you the original egg shaped one with intergalactic miles. They are mechanically very strong and have some interesting features as well (e.g. the engine is under the passenger seat!)
They are petrol powered, so lower mpg but simpler to work on (no turbo etc.) which is important in shed territory.
I believe they are also RWD.

Not yet, but not long - Ssangyong Rodius is not sub 3K and falling fast...

Petrol Citroen Synergie on ebay
Very solid car, especially for a citroen! So good as a van they made it into one too. Not much fun but this is what I would go for. My folks have had one since new, 170k on the 2.0 petrol and no major issues so far. Been used as a van far more regularly than anything else recently too. Seats are heavy but lift out easily. As would be the same with any mpv of this age. No fancy folding seats had been devised yet.

I'd vote for the Ssangyong Rodius, if they're in budget. They're absolutely immense and I believe Ssangyong have a very good reliability record.
Or just buy a decent sized trailer.
Most tips now have a limit on the size of trailer allowed.Or just buy a decent sized trailer.

Hmm, I've never had a problem with my 2 meter one at ours.
Many councils have different rules though - my local one is "no commercial vehicles without prior appointment" so if you want to take a van you need to ring ahead, get st from them because you don't have the registration number of your rental van, be under strict instructions that it must be under a certain size and only visit once a day on the arranged days.Where my parents live I can rock up in a big fk off Luton van without them batting an eyelid, because the council have issued cards to each household for access to the site.
Biggest I've come across was my old mans 51 plate Renault Grand Espace - 2m load length was ideal for Ikea wardrobes and the amount it would swallow for tip runs was impressive.
Bigger than the Chrysler Grand Voyager that replaced it (in terms of load area), and much bigger than the Galaxy/Sharan/etc and the Citroen linked above.
It was a Renault though, ended up on ebay for spares when the ignition system suddenly gave up on a dual carriageway!
