I found my BMW X3 2.5i more exciting to drive than a Porsche 996 6 speed...
and I passed up a smoking deal on a '84 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe in perfect condition...to buy a '02 Boxster S.
Took me a while to get on with my 996. I was used to M3s etc which when driven at 7/10 and above are always sliding and moving. The 996 and 997 onwards have a much higher threshold before they get moving (not saying this makes the porsche faster - just faster before they start sliding) - and once they are, it's a very different thing to a front engine rear drive layout. You (well I) can't get it back in line at will the same way you can with an M3, you almost have to balance it, let it slide for a while and wait for all that rear weight to settle down and allow you to tidy it up..... Probably badly explained but they are a totally different challenge to any other rear drive car I know (front and mid engined). After 4 years, it's still a quick and easy car to drive at 7/10 and a real challenge to press on harder.and I passed up a smoking deal on a '84 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe in perfect condition...to buy a '02 Boxster S.

I also fond Aston Martins boring, they all look the same.
I'll give you that, they do....but does that make them boring?irocfan said:

I'm more interested in day to day cars, not rare exotic cars.
My ambition in car ownership is to own a Range Rover. A TDV8 Range Rover.
Nope, not a Bugatti, not a Ferrari, not a Lambo, a diesel Range Rover.
I like more or less all SUVs, even the brash AMG Merc M-Class ones.
I have a soft spot for small Fords.
I really like Bangle's BMWs.
Um, what else...
Oh yeah, I'm much more interested in comfort over speed. Hence why I'd rather have a Bentley/Rolls Royce over a Lamborghini/Ferrari.
