Vignale, the new name for posh Fords

Vignale cars will be aimed at “time-poor, independent thinkers who want to be made to feel specialâ€.
They still talk like that in the world of marketing? I was expecting "paradigm shift" and blues sky base touching to be in there at some point as well! I
Well these days buying a mondeo over a 3series does make stand out as indipendant thinkers, etc etc! They still talk like that in the world of marketing? I was expecting "paradigm shift" and blues sky base touching to be in there at some point as well! I
They already have Lincoln, the so called premium sub brand, sub premium brand or whatever marketing nonsense they use but still they try...
Meanwhile, the buyers who want a 'premium' car go off to the Germans as usual.
Maybe Ford should point out that more 3 series are sold than Mondeos so if you want to 'stand out', buy a Mondeo

Probably a clever move. But maybe a bit late in the economic cycle.
These are fleet cars and quite a few fleets would have probably preferred to drop BMW from their list and expand their cheaper Ford offering over the last few years.
However, I think this is all aimed at getting middle managers out of other German cars by allowing them to still assert their superior manhood and wealth in the car park and on the M1 with a car that can be visibly seen as superior as well as having an executive nut tightening service.
It will allow men to jump the queue at lay-bys like having front light wipers on your Vectra used to.

There is already a posh version of the new Mondeo on sale in America.......
It's called the Lincoln MKZ. It's not exactly pretty but at least it doesn't look like a Mondeo that has crashed through the Halford's stick-on crap aisle. I wonder why Ford chose not to offer this body style in the UK/Europe?

I think what they're really looking for is a slice of the ex-Saab architect clique. For when an Infiniti is too risqué, a Lexus doesn't have enough quilted leather and Hyundais and Kias are a bit low-brow.
Exterior styling is quite nice. Not sure about a quilted interior. Too much chrome.
I also imagine that once in the used market they will quickly become the "Vig-naaaarley, innit"
Bring over the Lincoln or Mercury, tone down the American-ness and they'd have a winner.
People who want a "luxury" car will still buy BMW Audi Mercedes and Lexus.
Apart from weirdos who care not for residuals who will but an Infiniti.

Renault tried this in the 80s.
Didn't work then really.
The days of Ghia are gone and Titanium didn't work so I fail to see where this is going.
As noted above, they'd have been better off launching Lincoln in the UK - would sit alongside the forthcoming Mustang.
I think a big key lies in the special servicing addition. I think that is quite clever. Didn't work then really.
