Ford of Europe AG is German. Based in Cologne since being set up in the 60s by Ford by merging the British and the German arms to administer and run the European business.
So it's an American designed car, produced by the European subsiduary, Germany based, of an American manufacturer and built in Spain.

Not really a 'smart man's German car' in any way at all.
All that is debatable is the facetious 'smart man' remark.

No, Ford is American.
They build cars in Spain.
They don't build cars in Germany.
Not that I particularly give a flying **** if a car is built in Germany. I had a Golf Mk IV and it was a pile of rusty *****
They build cars for Europe in Saarlouis (Germany) and Cologne. I always though it was just vans built in Spain? I could well be wrong on that one though.

Mondeo is built in Germany.

You're right though, it doesn't really matter!

When a "premium" brand just means more chrome on an existing model, you know someone has missed the point.

Maybe me...laugh

Mondeo, including Vignale is built in Valencia. Production was moved there after the Belgian Genk plant was closed a few years ago. this accounted for the rather large gap between MK4 and MK5 versions.

Saarlouis in Germany builds Focus and C Max, and Cologne builds Fiesta.

Vignale sales have been quietly gathering momentum and the badge will be seen in more numbers shortly as the Vignale version of new Fiesta will be launched. This is the primary reason for the Vignale roll out to all Ford dealers as Fiesta volumes are too significant to be channelled through a limited number of dealers.

For me? George Cowley era Granada Ghia X please smile

Been seeing a few Vignale S-Max around now (work near Dunton which might explain it). I must say they do look pretty smart for a people carrier.

My local dealer has a Kuga Vignale in the showroom, which looks quite smart. If you like the sort of thing.
