The Model S has been all the rage in the US car mags. It looks pretty sorted.

A full charge in 6 hours on the mains? And nearly 300 mile range? That is perfectly usable. And it looks the part. And it's fast.

Well the Aston is the obvious choice as its the only option if you live in a 23rd floor flat with no parking

a remarkable car indeed. All that space and power, and similar performance to the Rapide, with a similar range. Yet the cost to refill is just £4. And at 6 hours, something which can be achieved at work or overnight.

They are everywhere here in California and look great! Really stylish on the road - my current favourite.

The video certainly demonstrates the total absence of throttle lag. I think electric power can herald a new age of hyper-responsive drivers car.

Didn't Autocar achieve less than a 300 mile range? 30 mins for a half-recharge - every 100 or so miles then...

Trip to Valencia from the UK: pick a diesel Panamera with the 100 litre tank and don't need to stop for fuel.

Not that comparable on performance though - and it would probably have caught fire. Also, I don't think they are being made any more and the company is on the verge of bankruptcy.

I agree about the company being a bit shaky, but the performance seams to be not to far adrift of the Tesla, Aston and Porsche.

Can't watch the video yet but how much hotter does the tesla cost? I think that's usually the issue with a lot of EV's - spend a fortune to save money.

There is no doubt that electric cars are getting better. The crunch will come with the lack of generating capacity -especially in the UK (due to daft green ideas). In any case, electric cars currently produce a lot of CO2 because they're using electrical power supplied at a not much higher efficiency than a modern car engine. It will be 20 years before the nuclear option really gets going and solves the looming energy crunch IMHO.

Cheers

All they need now is a range-extender version, that will eliminate the need to recharge off the mains.

What lack of generating capacity? The average driver needs about 9kwh per day, and charging would be done over night. That about the same as a domestic shower, or hob, running for an hour. The energy suppliers would love to sell you energy at night, because they have a fecking big grid, with loads of capacity, not being used much.

Currently outselling the A8 etc, thats very impressive. I can honestly see me buying one in a couple of years. I'll bet they hold their value though, which would keep them out of my price bracket frown
