It's a diplomatic plate. Most likely Embassy staff. There are loads around Central London in the same format with D or X as the letter then numbers on either side.-Michael- said:

MAN 1 is on the governors BMW used for state duties, don't imagine the Lambo is his daily though - I have a feeling 1MAN belongs to Peter Duke (Duke Marketing/Geoff Duke's Son), I'm probably wrong though. Also saw MAN1C on a UR Quattro over there years ago, probably something different now.
Note sure how old the MN 1 plate is as these seemed to have been released in later years after the MAN plates had run out.
Also have a look down at the fire station near Quarter Bridge, most of the vehicles have 999 in their registrations.

I think I saw the Sultan of the IOM last night.
Wow really nice. MN 1 was the first plate issued on the island in 1906; 1 MAN was actually much later, in 1964.Edit after reading the post above - MN #### was the first, running to 1935, then MAN 1-999; then BNM - YMN ###; then #### MN in 1959. Following a few other combinations, MN #### was then actually reissued (I assuming excluding any 'live' plates) in 1971. So I guess MN 1 could either be 1906 or 1971.
