I love these plates...B8BBB, B888BBB, BBB888B etc....I think they'd look great on a car.

Are you sure it wasn't 1 FUN or FUN 1 as they are owned by the Godden family who own a lot of local amusements around kent.

BUG 1. Not on a VW Beetle, but on a ...

...Bugatti Veyron in Kegworth bounce.
A World record edition no less - one of five in the world and the owner has two other Veyrons in his collection too. One of them wears the plate BUG 11.
There are images of "BUG 1" on PH that show it with aluminium chrome wings...

It had orange wings when I saw it and the number plate was on the left. Is it the same car or has he unwrapped it?

[edit] I'm wondering if this was the car I saw...

If it is, I wonder if he he did what I did once, and just transferred numbers onto an identical car and avoided the £25 insurance admin charge wink.[/edit]

WR10 BUG is now BUG 1 - same car, different plate. I assume he still has the black/aluminium one.

End of thread? bow

Unfortunately, the plate was issued around November 1920. If it were an original issue to the original vehicle, I'd be tempted to agree with you wink.

I'd set the standards VERY high to end the thread (but, Thank God, it's not my call).
November? I think you'll find it was May. May 2004 to be precise at a DVLA plate auctionyes. Not too sure it was worth the £13.5K plus fees
Definitely not an "end thread" plate if it's a DVLA purchase. I just assumed it was an original issue reversed S, but I don't know what the first number in the range was.
'S Forward' was issued from 1903; it was never reversed, hence available for DVLA to sell. Incidentally, single letter (and double letter) 'reverse' plates were not early - they were issued from the mid 50s to the early 60s after licensing authorities ran out of three letter combinations. The first was 1000 E, issued by Staffordshire in 1953, and the last was 5700 D issued by Kent in July 1964.

It really did take me a moment or two to "read" what that could be presumed to say - which goes to prove to an extent that the buyer wasted his/her time. Unless he/she was intending to alter the appearance - surely not????

I got if instantly, as I suspect a lot of other autonumerologists would too. Nice plate and undoubtedly worth more than was paid in '98.
