Jeremy Clarkson was facing the wrath of Argentinians on Thursday after driving though the country in a Porsche with the number plate H982 FKL - a clear reference to the 1982 Falklands war.
Can any of the numberplate gurus on here determine whether the plate has been recently transferred or if it is simple coincidence?

BBC has officially stated it was a coincidence. I suspect they'll get in a spot of bother if its proved its not! HPI would confirm.

Well, the plate is an original (ie, FKL was issued in 1990 with an H prefix)and H982 FKL is registered to that Porsche. I can't believe it's a coincidence, I rather suspect someone in TG found the car for sale and built the trip around it!

M155 DYK. I didn't see the driver, so I wasn't able to tell you if it was a big girl with short cropped blonde hair wink.
Is it just me that sees plates like this one...

RON 158Y spaced to read RON IS BY. The plate is not for here, but I've only posted it to ask the question "is it me?"

I used to see RON 15 8Y quite a bit around the Rotherham area.
Always used to confuse me as the driver seemed a fairly typical middle aged man.
I assume it meant bi-sexual as I couldn't work out anything else it was trying to say!

I thought the same, though I couldn't see the driver. It was in Long Eaton tonight.

This KAHN Freelander (diesel) will be going in the badly modified thread, if I can find it - the noise it made was awful, if you can imagine a skeleton falling down some stairs in a biscuit tin... yeah:

Your freedom of choice is pretty limited in Germany. The first 1-3 letters (depending on the size) always refer to the area the car is regisered in. In this case Dillenburg. The next two letters aswell as the 1-4 numbers are your choice. There also is only one font.

That van could be just the shade of blue Clarkson needs for the Vatican trip!

Reminds me of a plate I see regularly in Nottingham - REX 150K.

Can 'fairly typical middle aged men' (whatever that means) not be bisexual?

I used to see this one flying around Barnet in the early 1990’s when "Australians wouldn't give a XXXX for anything else" (Castlemaine Lager).
The Lager seems to have disappeared but the car and plate which I see on Platewave, where I found this picture, were last spotted in November 2013, hopefully still about.

Of course.
Apologies that apparently we can't have a fairly typical looking anything these days!

Re:- REG 15 8Y
A Bentley GTC Convertible registration NED 1S just down the road from me doesn't suffer this sort of sexual innuendo (well only under my breath smile). Looks like he may be better placed financially to avoid it!
