£400,000 for 25 O?

That's nearly 520k including fees.
Bought by John Collins, owner of Talacrest. Will be adorning his 250 SWB apparently.
Soon to be on the chav plate thread? Doubt very much it'll be shown as 25 O at any time smile

Mind, the profit Talacrest makes is astonishing so why not? You don't take it with you.

Union Shop Steward?

...would look great parked next to 1 OUT, but I can't seem to find that, or 10 UT on the usual web lists.
I hadn't twigged the union connection, I immediately thought cricket. A11 OUT sold for £2500 in 91. 1 OUT has neither been issued nor sold, so if you are interested you can ask DVLA to stick it in the next auction! 10 UT was sold for £6000 in 2012, if not showing on a car probably held on retention by Reg Trans or similar.

250 L

At todays auction. What happens when two people want a plate.

£130,328 that's what!!

Even then I suspect one bidder was stopped bidding by an automated system. Bidding was between an internet and phone bidder, with the internet been more forceful. Was going up 1,000's at a time. Internet bidder went £100K then the guy on the phone raised a small £500 and won it! I suspect the internet guy hit his bidding limit and couldn't actually bid anymore.

Still, £130K for 250 L?? That's single single money.
250 L as in Ferrari 250 Lusso?
Agree that is ludicrous money, especially for a DVLA sale plate. I know there is the relation to the Lusso, but still, there are 9999 'reverse single L' combinations that have been or can be sold. If it was an original issue in would make more sense based on rarity. As you say, it comes down to two millionaires bidding against each other...any idea what the reserve was?

I've seen 4G in Aberdeen several times.
Despite both being in Scotland, not originals I'm afraid...G #### was issued by Glasgow but #### G are DVLA sale plates.

Better be careful as the Guernsey plates can be shown as black on yellow! smile

Afaik DVLA have very "meaningless" low reserves .Im guessing they want to make themselves look great value on paper and not scare the general buyer away.

I never know whether to put plates in this thread or the crappy one. Anyway, saw a BMW i8 in London today with the plate:

RU55 IAN

This is not a valid plate as quoted, so presumably has been butchered and is therefore a crappy plate!

If it's of any help I used to see RU51VAN (spaced RUS IVAN) on a Tesla Model S on a daily basis. And I've recently stopped seeing it. As such, I reckon our Russian friend Ivan may have chopped it in for an i8

I see RUS51A* regularly around the Farnborough area.

It's on a blue 2003 CLK 55 AMG.

*yup, displayed without the proper spacingwink
