I spotted this 993 4S (Turbo look-a-like) a few weeks ago. I forgot about it until now.

Out of interest, why is a plate like this desirable? I understand short plates with two letters as it can represent your initials, but i don't understand why people would pay MORE for a less descriptive numberplate.
Guess these types of number plates are not to really going to 'wow' anyone as they mean nothing to anyone apart from the owner and their family and friends....
All opinions are valid of course, to me {and all 3 of mine are words because I like those) 21 D is desirable because it is minimal, is a part of history being an early example, 21 is a cool number and D a cool letter and initial. Also similar plates make good price so a good investment too. They don't come a lot better.

Agree, each to their own, I personally love original plates (ie not DVLA sale jobs). I like the rarity factor; this is a good example, issued by Kent in 1964. This rarity can also drive prices, making #### D for example usually more expensive than #### P.

Saw H47 TER on a Land Cruiser yesterday. Not sure if it's a Luton Town fan or a hat maker!
Also 36 R and 73 V both on big-power Mercs recently.

I'm pretty certain this plate was on a Volvo 340 for many years, where did you see it?
Kingsway Sainsbury's, Derby
Oh, nice - still in the area where it was issued then!

A couple which caught my eye in Derby today:

1 PAW - Mini

KEB 44B - Nissan Micra. It looked exactly as a takeaway delivery Micra would too!

I saw VAL 1 in Nottingham today and it's now on an Audi A4; never tire of seeing it. Have also started seeing a BMW 3-Series around Nottingham with a plate I like but might divide opinion:

Reminds me, I don't think I posted this one:

Belongs to Strathclyde University I believe.
