Nice plate but they paid plenty in '92 @ £40K plus fees. An easy 6 figures now.

What is really puzzling is a person paid £30K plus fees in '96 for CHR 11S. I would say they would struggle to get that now.

I agree £30K for that in 96 was a serious amount and still is

Completely agree. CHR 1S is a 'perfect' name plate (a bit like CRA 1G smokin) any other variation is a) just trying to hard and b) not worth £30k in a million years.

That is a cool plate, I think I'd rather have my initials on a plate (eg. 'CDS 1' or '1 CDS') than my exact first name like that..

Saw 4 LAN today going into Nottingham Business Park.

My guess is it was either a guy called Al, or an ex-Man Utd player called Diego.

I'm going to go crazy here by suggesting the driver has the initials of BJ and he or she was born in 1969? Therefore making it a classy plate.

And it's still a shortened spelling of a name, they must be very few that can spell it exact like "DAV 1D" "N1 GEL" "CRA 1G" etc... it would be a great sight if all of these could be photographed together...!

Of course it is. Finding someone to spend 30k on that plate back then was a lot harder than it would be to do so today, and it hasn't halved in value while the CHR 1S plate has rocketted I assure you. It may not be the perfect spelling but it's better than a lot of st out there. The fact that the CHR 1S plate is surely worth £200k+ has a knock on effect to the price of the imposter plates too. CHR 15 would be better (and more valuable of course) than CHR 11S, but the CHR 11S plate would still fetch decent money. The 30k paid at the time might have been down to their being two or more Chris's "in the room", but it's a popular name and a scenario, that in all likelyhood, if repeated today, would see an even higher price paid.

Slightly off topic, but I remember seeing CHR 15 in Leeds in the late 90s.
Still a great looking plate IMO.

I love these single letter plates. Very rare, only a few letters reversed and for obvious reasons few of the higher numbers survived. This one issued in 1962 by Derbyshire, spotted last night in Dunchurch.
