Regarding the above plate, what is more valuable, a single number and three letters or three letters and then a single number?

The latter, in general, as it will be older.

SWMBO spotted this in Helensburgh

The pink roof also suits the car

Best plate to date was on a sporty car stopped by the police in Glasgow
H10 FCR but he had them spaced to read the obvious

O.K. I'll bite!

Just what exactly is 'the obvious'?

If so, bulls, red rags and stupidity come to mind!

Exactly, if it was WH05 SHE then it would actually be a decent plate - HO05 SHE is just a really crap attempt at it.

Most the plates are like this on the thread
I really like your enthusiasm and I used to do the same when I first joined PH at 16-17.
I used to post all sorts of very ordinary plates or car spots just to get involved.
Over time you'll separate the wheat from the chaff with some of these very average plates you've posted.
I'd say keep up the good work, but be a bit more selective and you'll get a lot less hassle on here!
A decent rule of thumb... Anything suffix or prefix is not that special unless it spells a name .
Eg S 1 LEW nothing special
LEW 1 S corker

As a guide single singles are judged by most to be the pinnacle followed by double single or vice versa.
A nice double triple makes the cut with some , but not with others.
Again, original plates seem to be more prized than DVLA auction plates.
By and large butchered plates are frowned upon. Eg XR 05 SGB. made to read X R0SS GB.
I take a view that if someone takes the time to take a pic and post it then who am I to criticise , others are less tolerant
Indeed, especially regarding spacing - I recall one classic post advising that, for some on here, moving one letter 1/4 of an inch towards another makes the culprit little better than Pol Pot..silly

Couldn't get a clear photo as a car between me and an Audi A5 (I think) with the intriguing plate BMW435

Also raised a smile when I saw a little Honda CRV with the plate CRV 16V pic is crap so apologies.

I smile at the silliest things. Today, it's an OCD plate that looks like it's on the pi$$ smile.
