Another idiot then, that thinks, as does Mr10secs, that it is OK to incorporate unlawful stickers in his number plates.
OK lets hang Sir Jackie Stewart for putting a sticker on his plate
A bit drastic, that! A big fine and a promise to be a good boy in future would suffice.

Not as if he has manipulated characters and added unnecessary bolts, is it?

Just looking through some old pics on the computer I found this from about 3 years ago:

That's very special.
I imagine that plate would fetch a large portion at auction. cool
What's the matter Clif? JS? bottle gone? Funny how all "the rules" get forgotten about sometimes in here....

Black and silver plates on a 1985 car would be one reason for this being on the other thread.
Unless its registered in the Chanel Islands
Which it isn't.
And, the Guernsey black & silver plates are numbers only.

If a vehicles registered number has less characters than a normal registration plate that plate may legally be smaller & as the stickers are outside of the legally needed size for the registered number of the car are the stickers from a legal point still on the plate illegally?

Would it be any different than if he fitted a smaller plate, but still legal for his vehicles registration, and fitted the stickers either side of the plate?

If the registered number was a normal format registration with the stickers I agree but I am not sure in this case it applies.

He has been offered 4.5K for it by a BMW dealer ! I would have thought you could only put that on an M6 (BMW wise) Id love it on my 911 though. He wont sell it as its his wife's plate and their surname, he has one similar on his car.

Ah right, the way I see the plate is like this:

'Hey I've got a fast M5 and it can burn you off in your rubbishy chariot...bye'

rather than

'Hey, you got an M5? Well my M6 is the st and it can burn you off,,,bye.

I don't see the issue to be honest. The plate legally could be smaller & the stickers would then be on the bodywork of the car.

What about the fourdot plates are they not in effect the same thing?

https://www.fourdotdesignerplates.co.uk/index

Yes I have looked at the fourdot custom plates and if it wasn't for them being silly money I was going to get a set for my car with my 3+3 plate as the smaller plate ,still 100% leagal, looks a bit daft when there are cutouts in the bumper for the standard sized reg plate.
