Otherwise its a pointless vehicle of excesses.
Anything other than a reasonably powered Golf estate Plus thing is pointless.

My Brietling watch could be argued as pointless since my £50 Casio G Shock is technically better. Guess which one I most like though.

The mental 850 bhp limo part ,I get and love.
The i- part, not so much. It's not a mini mpv, unlikely to have to keep kids amused on the way to Devon, surely oligarchs have better things to do- buy governments/ football clubs, count their money, snort coke off supermodels etc

Also in 10 years time we'll be laughing at the tech in the same way boomerang tv aerials and armrest faxes are ridiculed now.

I ran a 2006 CLS with a full Brabus conversion for 5 months is Las Vegas last year. Base car was the 55, and it had a full K8 engine, air suspension and full Brabus exhaust. One of the most mental things i have ever driven. Could barely put the power down when leaving car parks and valets, but as a cruiser across the Interstate, I can very much see why this will be the CEO barge of choice for the petrol headed king of business! One may not necessarily see the point initially, but they really are feats of engineering.
Oh, and in regards to the £200k price tag? I think that may be somewhat short sighted. Think £300k and you won't be too surprised.......

I agree with the first and last, but what's wrong with the headlights?

When cars start pealing the tarmac up? This things probably not too far off it.. wobble
You can do that with very little power. All you need is a hot day and one of these:

Source: my missus had one for a project and was banned from moving it about during hot days precisely because it was damaging the tarmac.

I guess it isnt pointless if someone buys them, that is why Mercedes exist, to sell cars, as a limo that someone else drives 850 bhp is extreme overkills, limos are about being driven about in comfort, acceleration should be adequate and smooth to speeds that fit in with prevailing speed limits, dont think most Chaeuffers tend to drive at vastly over the speed limit as pretty quickly they wouldnt end up without a license, and therefore a job. If you bough this kind of car to drive yourself, well, you probably wouldnt as its geared to rear seat passengers, who knows, them make them and someone buys them.

I think pretty much every S class ever made would fulfil the limno brief very well, even back to bog spec diesel ones and S280's, this is wonderfully barking but I ersonally would be happier with a more discreet conveyance and 300 bhp would be all it every needed, that was the Rolls Royce thing, Power Output : Adequate, passengers dont really want or need to know as long as it whisks them along comfortably, most dont want neck strain and terror, apart from weirdos like us on here.
There are Mercedes-Benz board members who buy Brabus cars over their own AMGs. That says something about their standing.

At one point it was most of them - in fairness, AMG is just a 'sport mode' option - Brabus is the custom bling route - the "extra half an inch" if you like.

Putting my dull and slightly practical hat on - for an effective limousine in which to spend time in the back I would want a range of over 80 miles between fill ups and a soothing ride. If I was up front driving and wanted this sort of performance plenty of sports cars for less than half the money would suffice and be a much better steer.

I just dont understand who buys these, really wealthy people (obviously) whom have a limo driver they want to treat for Christmas?

What are you on about?
My 140 has a 22 gallon tank, I suspect this is similar. 80/22=3.6mpg and I suspect thi car gets more than that absolutely flat out which it can't do everywhere. In fact lets say 12mpg, (will probably get more), and you're talking a range of 264miles.
I suspect even with the liquorice profiles the ride would still be quite soothing.

As for buyers, same kind of person that buys an S63 or even an S500.
My 3.0 diesel (no I don't mean the 140), will get to 60 in about 6. Will do 155 also. This far more than I need yet I still have it. It's not exccessive to the same degree as the Brabus but it's an excess nonetheless.
Where do you draw the line?
