What are you on about?
My 140 has a 22 gallon tank, I suspect this is similar. 80/22=3.6mpg and I suspect thi car gets more than that absolutely flat out which it can't do everywhere. In fact lets say 12mpg, (will probably get more), and you're talking a range of 264miles.
I suspect even with the liquorice profiles the ride would still be quite soothing.
As for buyers, same kind of person that buys an S63 or even an S500.
My 3.0 diesel (no I don't mean the 140), will get to 60 in about 6. Will do 155 also. This far more than I need yet I still have it. It's not exccessive to the same degree as the Brabus but it's an excess nonetheless.
Where do you draw the line?
The argument was moot anyway as brains offer bigger tanks on request. Nothing against this car and it doesn't matter how far you go back, there's always been somebody out there doing mad things with all sorts of vehicles, it's just that nowadays, the numbers just keep getting bigger.
850 bhp though won't be much use to this car the majority of the time, the normal AMG models have enough difficulty putting the power down, this will be Traction Control central! Imagine what it must be like in the wet!!!
The interior is a bit bogging too!

I bet the extra power will be helpful over 150mph... 850 bhp though won't be much use to this car the majority of the time, the normal AMG models have enough difficulty putting the power down, this will be Traction Control central! Imagine what it must be like in the wet!!!

I think that the fast S-class is better served by the V12. I would probably want a standard S65 over this thing, though I'm sure Brabus could make the S65 faster too. However, the S65 is not a slow car and I do rather wonder whether Brabus' ridiculous power upgrades would spoil the S's wafting ability. If it still had a large touring range and did the cosseting limo bit, that would be fine. However, if it ended up just being a very heavy hot rod...

Agree in general. Makes me wonder however if this is the endo for the venerable V12. Brabus gets 850ps out of the V8 and AMG could easily get more than 650 (they get 622 from the old N/A 6.2 V8). The V12 gets 730 in the Huayra and never more than 670 in MB badged cars, so I guess they are even. Add in the lower production costs (and much less weight) for the V8 and I think 2014 will be the last V12 year for MB. Quite sad...virgilio said:

well i'd be willing to bet you that they'll still sell a V12 in 2015.The Asian market will keep the V12 going. They don't care about downsizing and they wouldn't like being forced to plump for two thirds of their old car's cylinders. The V8 will never be as smooth as the V12. At 730hp, I reckon AMG are sandbagging - any more in a 1200kg RWD mid-engined sports car would be borderline insane, but Horacio Pagani has always insisted that his cars be easy to drive despite their monstrous performance.
