An XF Sportbrake went past yesterday looking gorgeous but at the same time just that little bit dated, a shame as it's only recently been released.
You are clearly insane. The Sportbrake is one of the nicest cars on sale today, utterly gorgeous. Now go away you silly man hehe

(I like the Sportbrake, did that come across?)
There was about 5 of them parked outside Birmingham airport the other day, if you pick the wrong wheels and colour it does look dated.
Which is a real shame as in the right spec it is lovely.

To me, Jaguar are fast becoming a true alternative to the Germans.

Well done Ian Callum and his team, this is just the vehicle to bring Jaguar back to the front.

So true. Their idea of a family dna is to put a 911 in photoshop and mash it.
Well dont Jag, like the new design ideas. Hopefully no more SUV's will be sold but it will prevent muppets buying G Wagons and BMW X6's instead.
Eh? All Jag have done is tack all their modern design cues onto a 4x4 shape isn't it, just like Porsche (although laughably that was tacking them onto VW's shape) or am I missing something (admittedly I can only look at pictures of these kind of things for a few seconds before I start feeling, well, just wrong)

OK, so it's a handsome(ish) SUV, which is what the punters want, what the accountants want and what Jag needs to underpin funding for its sports cars/GTs, etc - a la Porsche's business model. Fair enough.

But FFS, stop faffing around and bring it to market asap - ie, late 2014/early 2015 - so you can get on with producing an MX-5-sized 2-seater with sub-5.0secs 0-60 and 40mpg that'll cost less than £40k, please biggrin

Jag are having a great time at present... and deservedly so!!

The Tata investment seems to be paying off - and the brand is soaring.

This looks gorgeous... i dont like SUV's and clicked on the pic expecting to do some hating, chuck a nice 3.0d in there and some proper bhp off it and steal porsche's thunder, let alone BMW.

I think it looks decent, but very tame.

My first thought, however, was Jaguar being late to the dance.

Better late than never. The 4x4/SUV market has many more years in it yet so it makes sense for Jaguar to join the party.

Doesn't particularly look like a jaguar to me. Good luck to them, I hope they make boatloads of profit from the damn things flying out the door (probably the 2.0 'diesel sport' ones in white) but such things couldn't be further from a real Jaguar in so many ways.

This is what Bentley need, scaled up perhaps to Q7 size with a 600bhp engine and 4wd. Now that would be an interesting release rather than the hideous monstrosity they published pictures of last week.

I wouldn't go that far. It's just sad that a car company I liked is turning out the same basic configuration as every other company - vw, ford, Kia - jaguar's just another SUV manufacturer now.
