PH does make me laugh:

Anti Civic Type R argument - Too revvy, not enough torque etc

Honda plan turbo Civic Type R:

New argument - Wont be as good as the VTEC, why turbo it etc etc
People who liked turbocharged hot hatches hated the Type-R. People who liked NA hot hatches loved it.

Honda turbocharges it.

People who like turbos are pleased. People who don't, hate it.

Those who like turbocharged engines now have the Abarth 500, Mito Cloverleaf, Giulietta Cloverleaf, Audi S3, M135i, DS3 THP, Fiesta ST, Focus ST, 3 MPS, Cooper S, 208 GTi, Clio 200 turbo, Megane 265, Ibiza Cupra, Fabia VRS, Octavia VRS, Corsa VXR, Astra VXR, Polo GTi, Golf GTi and soon the Type-R.

Those who don't are st out of luck.

Not that I really care, I can't see myself buying another hot hatch anyway.

At least the video proves it's a manual.
i think thats ared herring though, as the soundtrack is definately a dual clutch, i've had a lap with tarquinni in a manual car and i never saw him change as quick as that shift sounded.

also most dealers are saying 2014 which would sound more realistic if its testing now at the ring.
Never heard of flat shifting? This is what my old school friend calls this type of shifting....

Friends 660bhp TTRS, manual. You can see his hand in the reflection changing gear. Yet, if you were to listen only, it sounds way faster than a normal manual shift. He is a racing driver though. Here's his TTRS racing his GTR...(jammy sod!)

Always amuses me that pretty much any new hatchback attracts such negative opinion before anyone has seen it, let alone driven it. Obviously there is going to be speculation and opinion, but generally these discussions almost universally head in the same direction. Everyone is an expert that knows more about making cars than the people who make them.

We should all be happy that Honda are developing this car. Some of us will like it, and some of us won't, but for God's sake give them a chance. I for one am very much looking forward to it. I might like it, I might not, but as a petrol head, I'm happy that the manufacturers are still producing performance cars. Seems like some people would rather Honda didn't bother.

IMO of course.

Now they have yes- but back when the DC2 then the DC5 were doing the rounds? Did the Clio of that era have one, the Golf, the Celica?
The old Rover 220 turbo had one back in the early 90's, so Honda was hardly in innovator in this area.

And were Ranaultsport not playing catch up? Unless i'm mistaken their offerings with extreme weight reduction came much later?
Later than what? The 172 Cup came out in the same year as the DC5.

You talk too much sense. You must be new to this forum. The next debate will be 'it costs how much? For a Honda?'
