So, what's your mileage?
Discussion
Honda Civic VTi - 139,000 and running as tight as the day it entered the family with my parents 17yrs earlier (1992 car). It only ever had two issues which were the demise of the original radiator and a partially sticking front left brake caliper. Everything else was fine and original such as clutch, VTEC valve, hoses etc.
I should have kept it but I sold it on as my younger sibling couldn't get insured on it and for me the shape was really dated and I fancied an upgrade.

Come on... anything less than 200,000 isn't 'high miles'!
Over 100k is high (if you're buying!). However, that is an interesting point and a complete other thread subject. I bought my Chimaera with 55k on the clock. At the time it was 9 years old and my feeling was that this meant that it had spent time being driven (not a lot of miles per annum but enough to tell me that it wasn't a garage bound car) and was thus a decent bet. I have continued the annual mileage, averaging around 6k each year. If I had found a highly polished car which had lots of extras but had only, say, 15k on the clock then I would have walked away. It is clear from remarks that other TVR owners and lovers make in respect of this marque that you buy on 'condition, not mileage'. It is, however, another story when one is selling (or they are buying!)!
At what point, for instance, is the mileage too high?
Over to you ladies and gentlemen.....
Clio 182 - 59k
Landcruiser 80 4.2td - 153k
What mileage is 'too high' depends very much on the car and it's previous owners. A little petrol supermini with one careful lady owner will be shagged after 60-80k whereas a motorway barge or Landcruiser etc should be perfectly fine after 250k. As always, buy on condition not mileage. The only bearing mileage really has on my purchases is to take the resale value into account.

Had a number of medium milers
Octavia TDi, written off when still going strong @ 177k
Discovery 300TDi - 167k
Just sold an e61 525i with 143k on it and took an e39 520i in part ex that had 229k and still moving
Current fleet is a relatively spiritedly accord with 60k on it, this will get run forever as a cost lowering exercise so hoping to stick 6 yrs and 200k on it!
Also have an mx5 that's done 130k which will be reborn as a kit car in next year or two.
