Triumph Explorer goes exploring: Time for Tea?

One Triumph takes on Knockhill, the beach and a forest in an amazing video

So Frankfurt has sated our appetite for all things fresh and four-wheeled, at least for a couple of months. In fact, we may have gorged on new cars a bit excessively, so today's Time for Tea? switches to two wheels.

This Triumph vid was brought to our attention by PH2's Jon Urry; if you can provide this sort of stuff regularly Jon, it's your show! But anyway, the clip is a promo for Triumph's Tiger Explorer 1200 bike; it appears Triumph was keen to push the 'Explorer' aspect...

After picking the bike up from Triumph Glasgow (clearly a big-budget production), Triumph's stunt rider Kevin Carmichael is off to do some exploring. He starts at Knockhill with some rather outrageous drifts and is then off to a rather picturesque beach for more skids, slithering around a Defender and a speedo-indicated 140mph. Brave man.

A very fast run through a very muddy forest (the sun has clearly disappeared by this point) concludes Kevin's spectacular exploring before getting the bike (and him!) cleaned back to showroom freshness.

Cool vid this one, an alternative to our usual stuff. Back to four wheels soon!

Enjoy

Good promo vid. Not many riders are that capable. Nice bike too.

How to use an adventure bike, not all of us can ride like that but there are long distance rallies that you could use this bike on.

Shame as most of them will be ridden from cafe to cafe on a Sunday, only if its dry of course.

Hmmm... that "very muddy forest" road is in substantially better nick (with a better surface, less potholes and less gravel) than my local roads. Hardly showing off the capabilities of an adventure bike... That said, he looks like he can ride it...

I've got one of those on my shortlist. Presently riding a Tenere, but will swap it in a couple of years. It'll be the Triumph, BMW GS, or Ducati Multisrada GT.

I have been stuck between one of these and a ZZR 1400 for my next bike. Current bike is a ZX12 so the ZZR makes most sense but after seeing this, I'm not so sure. Brilliant piece of marketing!

What are the OEM road tyres on these, looked like a Tourance NEXT from the gopro shot of the rear?

Massive hairy bo11ocks on that guy, some driftastic skills and that is not a light bike.

Used to ride an Aprilia Pegaso and that was similar for the rear tyre spreading drift, he is in a different class though.

Liking the look of the new Yam MT09 as my next ride tho.
