Personally for me I would take the car. When you factor in tax, insurance, maintenance I can assure you the cost will be close to that anyway. Instead though you get to drive around in a nice car (which will take a lot of stress out of your mileage) and not have to worry about it breaking. It also portrays a better image to your customers. No brainer for me!

If it's going to be up and down farm tracks then what about a pickup truck (Navara/MitsubL200/Ranger) - tough, car like and low tax.

You get shafted though eg negative tax code, no car allowance so less take home pay, probably get issued with some bog standard Vauxhall ste (no offence meant to Vauxhall drivers of course) etc.

Keep the stter, get full breakdown cover including hire car cover (both RAC and AA provide this) and if it's the AA you choose then look at their BRC cover to offset the cost of some of those breakdowns.

I think it has come down to this. If they offered me a nice BMW, Audi, Merc or 4x4 truck, then I would probably take the car. If they offered a Kia, Volvo, Vauxhall, VW etc the I would probably take the allowance. Basically, at 24 I either want something nice, or something cheap. Not much point having an 'average' car just because its new.

I used a C2 VTS for three years and 75k miles of commuting so was quids in when I sold it, now working a nearer home and use a 53 plate Xsara shed.
No worries about minor damage in depot car parks,no worries about loading work stuff in it and could throw it away tomorrow and buy another and still be in profit.

Get the company car
The smart money says don't do this but not sure the Pug will really suffice.

Most car schemes tie you into something you don't want which costs a fortune in tax. Don't try to make on the deal but just have a nicer car that you want.
